As fans come to terms with Kelly Clarkson's decision to end her Emmy-winning talk show, the singer shared further insight into the importance of stepping back from the series and spending time with her kids, who lost their father in August 2025.
The Kelly Clarkson Show will come to an end in the fall of 2026, after seven seasons on the air, with Kelly sharing that she was still coming to terms with leaving her talented team.
"My first thought is as a mom, obviously, so that was basically why the decision was made," she shared on SiriusXM Hits 1's The Morning Mashup. "Seven years, that's a long time. My kids have grown up in that."
"I think anytime there's job loss, you know, and all these people are talented and A-list and they're going to [be] fine, but I think that's the thing that kind of got me that was hard for me," she continued.
"But at the same time, it had to be a family decision that we had to do, and it's already hard enough just to be an artist in that schedule and have a family, and then do the talk show and have a family, so it's a lot on the plate."
Kelly shared her kids, River, 11, and Remy, nine, with the late Brandon Blackstock, who passed away in August 2025 after a lengthy battle with melanoma. Kelly and Brandon were married for nine years before they finalized their divorce in 2022, during which time Brandon also served as her manager.
The "Breakaway" singer delved into the difficult decision to end her talk show after Brandon's untimely death in an interview on the Today show.

"Well, I think everybody probably gets the timing, but…yeah, our family life, the dynamic changed a bit, and it has changed for a minute now," she said. "I think it's just – you've got kids, we've all got kids, right? – It's one of those things when you kinda start seeing life as how precious it is, too."
Even though her talk show is wrapping up, Kelly shared that she would still be gracing our screens as a judge on season 29 of The Voice and performing her Studio Sessions Las Vegas residency in the summer.
"I'm really busy. We were talking at dinner last night. I was like, I know everybody thinks, 'Oh, she's quit.' I still have other jobs," she said on Today. "So I'm still doing stuff. There's just too much on the plate, so I was like, 'You know what, it's time to kind of pull back.'"
Kelly canceled the remaining dates of her Vegas residency in 2025 just days before Brandon's passing, citing the need to be with her young children.
"Unfortunately, I need to postpone the remainder of the August Studio Session dates in Las Vegas. While I normally keep my personal life private, this past year, my children's father has been ill, and at this moment, I need to be fully present for them," she wrote on Instagram.
