Jason Bateman got candid about the awkward parts of parenthood in an appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, revealing that it came time to have a particularly "uncomfortable" conversation with his 14-year-old daughter, Maple.
The Arrested Development actor shared that he sat Maple down for a sex education talk when she was 13, and later suspected that she "baited" him into sharing every embarrassing detail.
"I did just talk to Maple about sex about a year ago…she's in a more traditional school," Jason began. "I did ask her how that's going, did she have any questions, or is she all up to date, because I don't want to tell her anything that I don't need to."
© Getty Images"But I think maybe she sensed this was an uncomfortable area for me, so I think she played dumb, and she's like, 'Yeah, I'm not positive on a bunch of stuff, do you have any…', so she kind of baited me now that I'm thinking about it," he continued.
"So I walked her through the steps, and kept waiting for her to kind of cut me off like, 'I got that part', and she didn't for the most part," he laughed, before adding that he ended up explaining the act through awkward metaphors.
Jason shares Maple and his 19-year-old daughter, Francesca, with his wife of 24 years, Amanda Anka. The Ozark actor recently revealed another uncomfortable conversation he was forced to have with Amanda ahead of their 2001 wedding, which spurred him to become sober.
© Getty Images"Amanda and I definitely had a few negotiations about the point at which the [partying] spigot was going to completely turn off," Jason told The Hollywood Reporter.
"She'd be like, 'This drip, drip, drip is annoyingly unpredictable, Jason.' She didn't demand that I completely absolve, but that was sort of the back-and-forth, and I was like, well, I feel like my [sobriety] ETA is six months away, but if I could land this plane now, it would alleviate a lot of the tension, so let's just [expletive] do it."

"I've got friends who had bottoms that were pretty chilling, but I was lucky enough to recognize, 'This is probably as far as I should go if I still want to accomplish the things that I want to get to.'"

Two years after their wedding, Jason landed his breakout role in the hit comedy Arrested Development, which made him a household name.
