When The Osmonds asked listeners to 'Love Me for a Reason', there was no doubt fans could think of a few. These two-stepping siblings got on famously and remain close to this day. But what exactly have they been up to since their heyday in the 1970s? 

From Marie to Merrill and Alan to Jay, we're looking at the lives of The Osmond family since they made it big.

Alan is the oldest and the 'leader' of The Osmonds

Alan Osmond, 76

Alan Osmond, born 22 June 1949, is the oldest of the Osmond siblings. According to his Instagram, he describes himself as: "A husband, father, grandfather, and a devout member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints". 

Alan says that the family bond guided The Osmond's through show business: "My family is my priority and my love is unconditional. That’s how we survived show business.” He is married to Suzanne Pinegar and is a father to eight sons who performed as the Osmond Brothers Second Generation.

Merrill is a father of six and is the original lead singer of The Osmonds

Merrill Osmond, 72

Born on 30 April 1953, Merrill Osmond is the original vocalist for The Osmonds, leading the way on hits like 'One Bad Apple', 'Let Me In' and 'Love Me For a Reason'. According to his website, he is credited as the producer, composer and writer on 5 number one hits.

He has also worked as a producer on The Donny and Marie Show as well as The Osmond Family Show. He tied the knot with Mary Carlson in 1973 and together they've welcomed six children. His son Justin founded The Hearing Fund UK, of which Merrill is a patron.

Jay Osmond was another Osmond to contribute lead vocals on tracks like 'Crazy Horses'

Jay Osmond, 71

Jay Osmond was born on 2 March 1955 and acted as drummer and occasional vocalist for The Osmond's. He is credited as sharing the vocals on 'Crazy Horses' as well as 'One Way Ticket to Anywhere' and 'Having a Party'. 

He married his first wife Kandilyn Harris in 1987 and they share three children together. After their divorce in 2014, he tied the knot with Karen Randall on May 21st of the same year. His son Eric is also an actor.

Donny Osmond, with sister Marie, make up a pair of the best known Osmond siblings

Donny Osmond, 68

Donald Clark Osmond, better known as Donny, was born on 9 December 1957. He is one of the best-known Osmond siblings and found success with TV appearances on the Donny & Marie show as well as voicing Shang for Disney's Mulan (1999). 

He's found further success as a solo artist, with hits like 'Sweet and Innocent' and Billboard number 1 'Go Away, Little Girl'. He's continued working ever since his start in childhood, and, in 2021, he released album Start Again. Donny has been married to Debbie Glenn since 1978 and they've raised five sons together.

Marie is a mother of eight and a successful solo singer

Marie Osmond, 66

Marie Osmond was born on 13 October 1959. Like her brother Donny, she's found success as a solo artist and co-starred with her brother on chat show Donny & Marie. Her most recent album, Unexpected, was released in 2021.

She was married to Steve Craig from 1982 to 1985, and subsequently tied the knot with Brian Blosil in 1986. Four years after she and Brian parted ways, she and Steve got back together and tied the knot once again. Marie is mother to eight children, one son who she shares with husband Steve and seven kids with ex-husband Brian.

Jimmy is the youngest member of the Osmond family

Jimmy Osmond, 62

Jimmy Osmond is the baby of the Osmond bunch, born in April 1963. 'Little Jimmy Osmond' as he was nicknamed during the '70s, is best known for the 1972 hit Long Haired Lover from Liverpool. In 2005, he appeared on I'm a Celebrity... Get Me Out of Here! and smuggled salt and pepper into camp via a teddy bear.

He married wife Michelle in 1991 and the couple share four children. Jimmy suffered a stroke in 2018, and has largely stepped away from the spotlight since.

Wayne Osmond was the second oldest Osmond sibling

Late brother Wayne Osmond

Osmond brother Wayne passed away on 1 January, 2025 at the age of 73. His brother Merrill wrote in a post on Facebook: "When I learned that my dear brother Wayne had a massive stroke my immediate response was to fall to my knees and pray for him." He added: "My brother was a saint before he came into this world, and he will leave as an even greater saint than he came in." 

The second oldest Osmond sibling married Kathlyn White in 1974, welcoming three daughters and two sons. He suffered a stroke in 2012, leaving him unable to play guitar, but appeared 6 years later with his brothers as requested by their sister at her birthday.
