Larry Birkhead will never shy away from sharing memories of his time with Anna Nicole Smith, but wants to make sure her late son is remembered as well.
The late model and the former celebrity photographer dated on and off, and largely in secret, for roughly two years, and after a heavily-publicized paternity case, it was confirmed they welcomed a baby together, daughter Dannielynn.
Dannielynn, now 19 years old, was born September 7, 2006 in The Bahamas, and just three days later, her older brother Daniel died in his mother's hospital room while visiting her, from an accidental drug overdose.
Larry, speaking on Bunnie Xo's podcast Dumb Blonde about Anna Nicole and their time together, remembered Daniel as a "really, really, really good kid" who was "super shy."
He recalled "some tension" about his shyness and not wanting to appear on his mom's reality show, The Anna Nicole Show, which aired on E!, but further shared: "As he got older, and when I came into the picture, he was warming up to even doing some modeling, some things like that and kind of coming out of his shell a little bit."
"I feel bad because I think in all of this, after Daniel passed away, then his mom and the paternity stuff, he gets forgotten in so many ways," Larry added.
"He was super quiet, [kept] to himself, but he was the only person in the house that I could talk to that would talk to me," he continued, alleging that they had come to a point in the house where he was not allowed to talk to anyone, because Anna Nicole would say different things to different entourage members.
Earlier in the episode, Larry also shared about how he and Anna Nicole "talked about having kids," and her insistence on doing so. "One of the first nights I was with her she said to me, 'I think you were sent here by my husband as an angel to protect me,'" he recalled.
"She was laser focused on wanting to have a baby," he further shared, remembering her having an "ovulation meter by the bed."
He also claimed Anna Nicole suggested they were meant to have kids not only because she felt her late husband sent him to her, but because he shared the same birthday with Daniel, 13 years apart. "There were just too many signs [indicating] it was something that was meant to be," he said that she said.
"Then she went a step further and said, 'You know what, you actually kind of look like Daniel. And I think that if we had a kid together, we'd have some kids that Daniel [would look like]," he added.
Larry, since Anna's death and his publicized paternity suit, has largely left the spotlight, and raised Dannielynn in his home state of Kentucky.
