Kelly Ripa opened up about a cosmetic procedure she underwent on a surprisingly unexpected area of her body. During an episode of her Let's Talk Off Camera with Kelly Ripa podcast with guest Lukas Gage, the ABC star shared that she got microneedling on her bum cheeks.

"Oh wait, you got microneedling?" Kelly asked Lukas while discussing skincare on the show. "I did that on my ass cheeks."

"How does it look?" replied Lukas, before the talk show host made an honest confession. "Just as old as before. Desperate times call for desperate measures," said Kelly.

Microneedling is a cosmetic treatment that uses tiny sterile needles to "generate new collagen and skin tissue to smooth, firm, and tone skin," according to Healthline

"Dermarollers are cylindrical drums studded with microneedles that are used needle the skin," Nick Milojevic of Harley Street's Milo Clinic told us. "The idea is that creating tiny injuries in the skin causes a collagen response, filling in fine lines, plumping the skin and contributing to an overall younger look."

The treatment takes around 30 mins, with the microneedling itself taking approximately 10-15 minutes.

Kelly Ripa and botox

This isn't the first time Kelly has admitted to undergoing a cosmetic beauty treatment. She previously shared that Botox in her face "cut my getting ready time in half."

"My Botox is super minimal. If I do it now three times a year, that's a lot. Maybe twice a year, really," she said in a February 2025 episode of her podcast. "I'm a minimalist, really. I do the 11's and I do the crow's feet, and I do the neck. And that's it."

She continued: "I used to get Botox just in my armpits to stop from sweating. One day I said, 'Do you think I should put Botox in my face?' And [Dr. Rosenberg] looked at me and he goes, 'I thought this day would never come.' And I was like 'Oh my God, I needed Botox' … there's a sweet spot."

Kelly previously revealed that her dentist recommended her to get botox in her jaw as she was a "real teeth clencher" who would grind her teeth at night. "I was a tooth grinder," she shared during an episode of LIVE.. "Got Botox in my jaw because my dentist recommended it and it’s changed my life. It’s changed my life."

She added: "I was a real teeth clencher. I clench my teeth because I don’t want what I’m thinking to come spilling out of my mouth."

Botox helps reduce the appearance of fine lines

Botox (Botulinum Toxin-A) works by blocking the signals that cause the jaw muscles to contract. While the masseter muscle is essential for chewing, it can sometimes become overdeveloped, leading to jaw clenching.

"This can result in a bulky appearance of the lower part of the face and symptoms such as headaches and jaw pain, commonly known as temporomandibular disorder," aesthetic doctor, Dr Asha Chhaya, previously told us.

"Muscle relaxing injections are effective in slimming the face, but only if the masseter muscle is overdeveloped. If you clench your teeth and notice these muscles become more visible, muscle relaxing injections treatment could help," shared Dr Asha.
