If there’s one thing Kelly Ripa is devoted to – aside from being a loving wife to Mark Consuelos and a proud mom to their three children – it's her fitness routine. It's a non-negotiable part of her day. And when a glamorous event calls for her to look like she's just returned from the Caribbean, she somehow finds just enough time in her packed schedule to squeeze in a spray tan, too.
Jimmy Coco, celebrity fake tanner and founder of his bronzing range Sunless by Jimmy Coco, exclusively spoke to us in an interview about Kelly's secret to her red carpet sun-kissed skin. Jimmy works with Kelly once a year ahead of the Oscars to give her the ultimate bronzed glow. However, he revealed that the spray tan appointment has to be carefully scheduled around the television star’s strict workout regimen.
"She's is incredible, she's so fun" he begins. "I've been tanning her for the Oscars for the past few years, and when she came to me, I was so excited because I'm a huge fan of hers."
Jimmy continues: "We're always trying to tan her around her workout routine. OK, she's going to be working out at this time. When should we tan? her workouts are really important to her."
You may assume the spray tan comes after Kelly's sweat session, but it turns out it's the opposite. "We do it way before so that she can shower and then do her workout," shares Jimmy.
While Kelly opts for a bronzed glow on the red carpet, her husband, Mark, has no need for a spray tan thanks to his naturally sun-kissed complexion. "I've never tanned Mark," admits Jimmy. "Mark is tanned when I show up."
Kelly's workout routine
The talk show host prioritizes her workouts and she never misses a session. Her trainer of over 14 years, Anna Kaiser, spoke to us about her personalized training routine for the star.
"She usually works out six days a week," Anna said. "Even when she travels, she'll do the workouts virtually if she needs to. Everyone knows that is her hour, morning or evening, she gets 45 minutes in and that is her time."
"My workouts are interval based," Anna said about her vibrant fitness classes. "The focus of the workout is strength and then I add elements of cardio, dance and power to elevate and make the strength training more effective."
"She never cancels and she's let everyone know in her life that, that is her time," Anna explained of Kelly. "It has been the same for 14 years. Even if she's had no sleep, she still shows up. If she's exhausted, she still shows up and then we decide how and what we do that day."
