Robin Roberts and Amber Laign support each other in sickness and in health.
Over the course of their 20-year relationship, the two have had their fair share of health woes, with the Good Morning America anchor undergoing a bone marrow transplant in 2012 to treat her myelodysplastic syndrome, and her wife battling breast cancer from 2021 to 2022.
The couple have been together since 2005, when they met on a blind date, publicizing their relationship in 2013 and later tying the knot in 2023.
Over the weekend, one of the two took to Instagram and shared a video of Amber via their dog Lukas' Instagram page, which sees Amber getting her make-up done.
She is seemingly getting fitted for a wig, and Lukas is sleeping soundly right by the make-up chair.
"When Glam Fam is in the house it means one thing… I'm not going with them," the caption, written in Lukas' voice, read.
"Special date night for my mommies, heading to MSG for #PWHL game between Seattle and New York. It's sold out which will set a record for attendance at a women's hockey game in the US," they added.
A follower then took to the comments section and wrote: "Is amber sick? Why did she lose her hair?" prompting Robin to share insight into Amber's health.
Writing back from her own account, she replied: "She valiantly went through cancer. And has what many folks have frontal fibrosis alopecia. Incredibly proud of her!"
"How wonderful that you two have each other to support [through] each of your cancer journeys. My daughter has alopecia and we have learned hair is not what makes you beautiful! Prayers for good health for you both," the follower then answered back.
Robin and Amber tied the knot at their Farmington, Connecticut home on September 8, 2023. Speaking with the New York Times shortly before, she reflected: "I could not have imagined as a young girl growing up in Mississippi that I'd be sitting here with you in New York City, with my fiancée who is a woman, and freely, openly and passionately talking about it."
She noted that by 2014, they had thought about getting married, though it wasn't until the COVID-19 pandemic that they seriously considered it. "It was just kind of one of those things that we talked about off and on over the years," Robin recalled, emphasizing: "We don't need a piece of paper, we know our love is real."
