Elle Fanning's latest picture, which featured the actress posing in underwear, absolutely shocked fans.
The star donned a yellow triangle bra, green briefs, and a long blue unbuttoned dress, which showed off her pregnancy belly.
Although it appeared real at first glance, the special effects team created the bold look for her latest series, Margo's Got Money Troubles.
Elle captioned the carousel post: "Happy BIRTH Day to Margo's Got Money Troubles! Go watch the first three episodes now streaming on @appletv. I hope you fall in love with Margo as much as I did while playing her."
She concluded: "Filming this season with our magical cast and crew was a JOYOUS experience wrapped up in laughter, whimsy, and baby poo! (more bts to come*)."
The new Apple TV+ series follows Elle's character Margo, who turns to OnlyFans to financially support not only herself but her soon-to-be baby.
Fans react
Fans took to the comments to transparently share their thoughts on the surprising picture which nearly fooled them to think the actress herself is expecting.
One follower wrote: "I was about to say when [expletive] did this happen," while another added: "Woah the way I thought I'd missed you being pregnant."
A third fan commented: "I was SCARED at first," while another fan added: "I was so confused for a second. I was like [expletive], she hid that well."
About Elle's character
As the character prepares for motherhood, Margo takes inspiration from her mother Shyanne, who is played by Michelle Pfeiffer.
Elle revealed: "Shyanne and Margo is particular because I think that they're cut from the same cloth. Margo is who she is because of the way that Shyanne is. I think Margo gets her resilience from Shyanne," per Deadline.
Elle found familiarity in the mother-daughter bond and added: "It's so well written and so juicy, their bond, and so universal. I understand that relationship. If you have a mom, everyone knows that relationship."
The actress explained that the two characters constantly change their roles during each unique experience.
She added: "The cycle, and at times how it flip flops, of who's the child, who's the parent — and at times also they're even just best friends, and they feel like girlfriends and peers, there's a lot, even in the course of one scene, those dynamics are shifting."
The pair's on-screen bond worked effortlessly being that the two previously worked together in I Am Sam.
Elle shared: "I'm not someone that thinks, 'Oh, you have to have off-the-charts chemistry for something to work,' but in this case, I do think that the chemistry really translates [from] 'that's Michelle and Elle,' and it translates to Shyanne and Margo."
