Hugh Jackman was one of the A-listers who got to see beyond the Met Gala steps, and enjoy the exclusive dinner inside, which was co-chaired by Beyoncé, Nicole Kidman and Venus Williams on the first Monday of May in NYC.
Post-Met Gala, the actor appeared on the Today show and provided an inside look into what the evening's festivities were really like.
He recalled: "Sabrina Carpenter gets up and sings and Stevie Nicks comes out. Stevie Nicks came out and sang and I was sitting."
The star revealed that Beyoncé was moved to tears by the performance. Hugh shared: "I'm gonna do some more name dropping, but there was Beyoncé and Rihanna, and I look over, and Beyoncé was just hitting her daughter [Blue Ivy], who was there and just had tears in her eyes."
He added: "And then I was like, that moment right there – that is priceless."
A night of firsts
This year marked Stevie's first appearance, yet alone, performance at the Met Gala at 77, and she duetted with Sabrina on the song "Landslide."
It was also Blue Ivy's first time attending the lavish event alongside her mother and father Jay-Z.
This year's gathering was a full circle moment for Beyoncé, who made her highly-anticipated appearance after a decade-long absence.
The iconic singer recently paid tribute to Stevie on her website by sharing a 2001 throwback video of Destiny's Child playfully interrupting Stevie's interview on the set of the "Bootylicious" music video, with hugs and praise for her.
Beyoncé revealed what made this year's special night most special to Vogue on the carpet, expressing: "It feels surreal because my daughter is here. She looks so beautiful. It's incredible to be able to share it with her, and I think she looks incredible."
As the doting mother looked over at Blue posing on the carpet solo, Beyoncé added: "She was ready. She is ready."
The entertainer looked forward to seeing the annual Super Bowl of fashion through a new pair of eyes and taking in the present moment.
She concluded: "I think it's really just experiencing this through the eyes of Blue and being able to relax."
The night's looks
The artistic theme of this year's Met Gala was "Fashion is Art," and Beyoncé slayed the assignment and deserved "10, 10, 10s across the board," as her hit song "HEATED" states.
The style icon donned a gorgeous, crystal-bedazzled skeleton outline on a nude skin-tight dress, and a luxurious diamond headpiece, along with a yards-long purple and grey feathered train, and the whole look was designed by Olivier Rousteing.
Her extravagant headpiece alone was worth $50 million according to multiple reports.
The global superstar's shiny 6.41-carat brilliant cut diamond necklace was from the The Garden of Kalahari Collection, and also featured 140 carats of diamonds on it.
Blue clearly got her fashion sense from the talented performer, as she sported a white Balenciaga gown, along with a puff-sleeve jacket, and diamond jewelry, like mother, like daughter.
