Elton John was inundated with birthday wishes as he celebrated turning 79 with his husband, David Furnish and his two sons, and shared a rare comment about his relationship with his family.
The 'Your Song' singer replied to a tribute posted by David, 63, on Instagram and allowed followers to gain an insight into the couple's 33-year relationship, having met in 1993.
Alongside a selfie of the music legend wearing large blue-framed reading glasses and a butter-yellow woollen scarf, David penned a gushing caption to mark his husband's big day.
The Canadian filmmaker and philanthropist said: "Happy Birthday to my beautiful husband. You amaze and inspire me every single day with your courage and kindness. Thank you for all the bountiful love you give me and our sons. We absolutely adore you. All my love forever, David xo."
Elton was quick to respond to the adorable message and shared his love for his family in the comment section. He responded by typing: "I am the luckiest man in the world. I love you, our boys, our life. Thank you for everything," adding rocket ship and blue heart emojis.
Other famous faces joined in with Donatella Versace penning a note to the star that said: "Love you both so much. Happy Birthday @eltonjohn," and Elizabeth Hurley added: "Kiss him for me."
Singer Charlie Puth said: "Happy Birthday Elton!!", while Rocketman star Taron Egerton went a step further and paid his real-life inspiration for his role a visit on his birthday.
The 36-year-old actor played Elton in the 2009 film and spent time with him during the 25 March celebrations. David shared a picture of the pair on his Instagram Stories and added a sentence that read: "Thank you @taron.egerton!!"

The famous couple share two sons, Zachary Jackson Levon Furnish-John, 15, and Elijah Joseph Daniel Furnish-John, 13, both via the same surrogate mother.
They met at a mutual friend's dinner party decades ago and entered a civil partnership in December 2005, officially getting married nine years later, after same-sex marriage became legal in the UK.

"We really love parenting, we love our family, and we love being together, and that's everything for us."
