The Oscars red carpet was a flurry of glamorous gowns and glitz as Hollywood's A-list descended on Los Angeles on Sunday night in everything from feathers to sweeping dress trains - but one actor truly left fans talking with a dramatic new look. Jack O'Connell, 35, who attended the awards show with the rest of his Sinners castmates, unveiled his "scary" transformation when he smiled for photographers ahead of the ceremony.
The star paid homage to his performance as the sinister vampire Remmick in the now Oscar-winning thriller by arriving for Hollywood's night of nights wearing prosthetic fangs. Nothing about his white blazer and bow tie ensemble, which he paired with sunglasses, looked out of the ordinary until he revealed the pointed fans, which appeared to be stained with blood.
Fan reaction
Jack's surprising transformation had fans ranging from "obsessed" to "creepy" and "scary".
"Is Jack O'Connell wearing fangs at the Oscars? Iconic," one fan noticed on X (formerly Twitter), while another remarked the star "really brought the vampire vibes to the Oscars", calling the choice "bold, fun, and totally unforgettable".
"Highlight of the Oscars.. Jack O'Connell showing up with fangs," someone else wrote.
Another fan said they were "obsessed" with the actor after seeing him rock up to the awards show with his vampire teeth in.
"Jack O'Connell at the Oscars wearing sunglasses and vampire teeth BECAUSE HE'S STILL A VAMPIRE is everything!!!" a fan exclaimed.
Sinners wins big at the Oscars
It was a monumental evening for the cast and creatives of the 2025 horror flick, Sinners, which was nominated for 16 Academy Awards and took home four wins, including Michael B. Jordan for best actor and Ryan Coogler for best original screenplay. Michael stars as twins Smoke and Stack in the film alongside Hailee Steinfeld, Wunmi Mosaku, Delroy Lindo and Jack O'Connell as the primary antagonist.
Michael later said his best actor win "feels timely". "I am here because of the people who came before me - Sidney and Denzel, Halle and Forrest - and all those actors who graced the stage, not looking for awards," he shared with press.
"They were artists who want to do the work, and that is what I want to focus on, the work."
