Victoria Beckham is undeniably fiercely protective of her family's privacy, but the former Spice Girls star has made a remarkably candid admission about the "pretty challenging times" that recently tested their close bond.
Opening up about the highly publicised rumours of a rift with her eldest son Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz, the fashion designer has shed new light on the emotional toll the intense public scrutiny took behind closed doors.
During her appearance on the Today show on Tuesday, host Jenna Bush Hager acknowledged that Victoria had faced a "pretty challenging year," prompting the star to open up about exactly how she gets through the "tough" times.
"Me and David, we are so close, and we have incredible people around us," she said. "We're very close to my parents, David's parents. We support each other through everything we do."
"We always put our children first," she added. "We love our children so much and have always really focused on protecting our children."
Ongoing feud and Brooklyn's accusations
The comments come shortly after Victoria has said she and her husband David Beckham "love our children so much" and have "always tried to be the best parents" in response to their ongoing feud with Brooklyn.
The 52-year-old and the former footballer were accused by Brooklyn of "trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn't stopped" in a social media post in January, which also saw him allege his wife Nicola "had been disrespected" by his family.
Brooklyn added that he did not want to "reconcile" with his family, having accused David and Beckham of prioritising "Brand Beckham" over all else and controlling narratives in the press.
Victoria responds
Responding to being asked about the feud in an interview with The Wall Street Journal, Lady Beckham said: "I think that we've always – we love our children so much.
"We've always tried to be the best parents that we can be, and you know, we've been in the public eye for more than 30 years right now, and all we've ever tried to do is protect our children and love our children, and you know, that's all I really want to say about it."
Business remains unaffected
She told the US outlet that the negative press had not affected her business.
The fashion guru added: "I think that ultimately people are buying my product because the product is really good. I don’t think they’re buying my eyeliner just because it's me."
