Queen Rania of Jordan is not afraid of making a sartorial statement, as she proved on 14 February when she stepped out in India. Paying a visit to the Chanakya School of Craft in Mumbai to gain a deeper understanding of its cultural sustainability initiatives, King Abdullah's wife sported a beautiful dusty blue blazer featuring intricate beaded embellishments.
The flattering jacket also featured a cinching hem down each side to pull in her silhouette and had an unexpected feature – a hood. She teamed her jacket with a white ribbed tank top and a pair of cinched white trousers and matching stilettos with a killer heel. The finishing touches came in the form of the 'Spy Mini' bag by Fendi, which retails for £1,900, as well as stacked rings and a diamond and pearl necklace.
Queen Rania was welcomed by Karishma Swali, Chanakya's creative director and Nehal Shah, director of Chanakya International, who explained to Rania the institution’s founding vision and evolution
Bright white trousers are somewhat of a debated fashion item. Constance Richardson, a colour expert and luxury personal stylist, previously explained why white can be a problematic colour if it dominates the outfit. "Although this can look clean and crisp, it is highly impractical and can look clinical. Avoid this colour in messy or high-pressure environments," she said.
However, Rania swerved this fashion no-no by infusing elements of pale blue into her look. When a pop of colour is added, Constance says the outfit can't be written off as 'too bridal'. She explains: "White is clean and modern as it symbolises clarity and confidence, especially in royal dressing. It's a refined choice that always feels fresh."
