Ladies Day has returned to the Cheltenham Festival after a five-year hiatus, and the unofficial queen of the races, Zara Tindall, adhered to the theme in style, sporting a glamorous yet classic navy blue dress coat by Katherine Hooker in a timeless heritage print.

The wife of Mike Tindall accessorised the design with a plethora of sumptuous cranberry accessories, donning leather gloves, a chic, top-handled bag by Fairfax & Favor and an eye-catching, 3D hat by Juliette Botterill, in the bold burgundy tone. The mother-of-three added gold earrings by Hector Lion and modern sunglasses as she joyously arrived at the famous horse racing event.

Alongside Zara was the Princess of Wales' mother, Carole Middleton, who looked a vision in a similar coat. The grandmother of seven donned a dress coat in a near identical print, which was also in navy.

While arriving at a high-profile event in a strikingly similar outfit to another guest is sometimes playfully dubbed a sartorial slip-up, in the world of royal fashion, it is simply proof of excellent shared taste. Rather than shying away from their accidental twinning moment, Zara and Carole gracefully embraced it, even appearing to share a warm laugh over their coordinating looks.

Carole's outfit

Carole, 71, cut an elegant figure when it came to accessorising her ensemble. She topped her caramel-toned hair with a bright blue fedora, which many royal fans will recognise as belonging to her daughter, the Princess of Wales. Designed by Hicks & Brown, it features a feathered embellishment around the brim, and Prince William's wife has worn the style many times over the years.

Showing her handbag credentials, the wife of Michael Middleton debuted a brand new, luxurious leather design by Hermès. Carole proudly had the iconic 'Birkin' bag nestled on her arm, which is widely regarded as one of the most famous handbags of all time. Instantly recognisable with its structured, almost briefcase-like design, they are priced from around £25,000 and are huge sellers on the preloved market.
