Many old dramas hold a special place in viewers' hearts, even decades after they came to an end, and one of those is Howards' Way, which aired on the BBC between 1985 and 1990.
The show followed the lives of the wealthy yachting and business communities in the fictional town of Tarrant. Howards' Way was pioneering at the time, thanks to its camerawork, which captured the action of the yachts as they raced and dealt with rough weather.
One of the show's beloved stars was Glyn Owen, who played Jack Rolfe, the gruff owner of the local Mermaid boatyard. Glyn, who died at the age of 76 in 2004, was also known for his roles in Emergency Ward 10 and The Brothers.
During his life, Glyn was married twice. In 1965, he married the actress Patricia Mort, with the pair welcoming two children, Lloyd and Cathy. Glyn and Patricia remained married until her death in 1999, and two years later, the star married retired dancer Carrie Clifton. The pair were married until Glyn's death, three years later.
The star's eldest child has followed in his father's footsteps by becoming a famous actor. Here's all you need to know about him…
Glyn's son Lloyd
Born in 1966, Lloyd was determined not to be like his parents, with the star admitting that in his youth, he had no interest in acting.
Speaking to The Sunday Post in 2006, he admitted: "I was always made to read plays at school, but I never wanted to. Because Dad was an actor, they thought I could do it, and I could.
"Then I was made to take part in a school play, and I didn't want to do that either, but I started to get approval for my acting. I was reasonably academic, good at sport, but somehow with the acting, people said, 'that was fantastic'. So, I thought, 'maybe that's what I'll do then'. It went from there."
However, it wasn't an easy route into the industry for the fledgling actor, and in the same interview, Lloyd revealed that he was kicked out of the Royal Academy for Dramatic Arts after asking the principal for a "term off". He eventually started working with the Cheek By Jowl Theatre Company and kickstarted his career.
Much of Lloyd's early stage career revolved around Shakespeare, with the star acting in the likes of Twelfth Night, Macbeth and The Tempest, but he has also had an incredible screen career.
He made his screen debut in 1988, appearing in an episode of ITV's Boon, and he has since played Professor Henry Jones, Sr in The Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, Professor Jon Ford in The Innocence Project and, since 2022, he has appeared in Prime's The Rings of Power series as Elendil.
Lloyd also has several major films under his belt, including biopic Miss Potter, found footage horror film Apollo 18 and fantasy film Wonderwell.
Lloyd is married to the actress and artist Juliette Mole, who is 11 years his senior, and the pair have since welcomed two children, Maxim (b. 1990) and Mimi (b. 1998).
