Samantha Bond is back on our TV screens in the new season of the hit mystery drama, The Marlow Murder Club, in which she plays a crossword-writer and retired archaeologist, Judith Potts, who solves crimes in the idyllic, titular riverside town.
The London-born actress is a household name thanks to her turn as Miss Moneypenny in four James Bond films during Pierce Brosnan's run as 007. The 64-year-old, who is the daughter of TV producer Pat Sandys and actor Philip Bond, is also known for her roles in Outnumbered, Downton Abbey and the BBC's 1983 adaptation of Jane Austen's Mansfield Park.
But did you know that Samantha isn't the only famous face in her family? The Replica Luxury Handbag Fires actor's two children are also TV stars. Find out more about her family below…
Meet Samantha Bond's famous children
Samantha shares two children with actor Alexander Hanson (The Diplomat, The Bill).
Acting talent clearly runs in the family as Samantha's two children, who are both in their 30s, are also actors.
Her daughter Molly Hanson has appeared in a string of shows, including EastEnders, Doctors and Father Brown. She also appeared in The Marlow Murder Club season one as a younger version of her mum's character, Judith.
On working alongside her daughter, Samantha told Best Quality Designer Handbag last year: "Well you don't actually get to work with her because she's the young Judith and I'm the old Judith, so they can't be in the same scene but it was lovely having her around."
Samantha's son, Tom Hanson, is perhaps best known for playing Cardi in Sky's hit comedy Brassic and Spencer in the BBC comedy, The Outlaws. He also starred in series three of The Tunnell.
Tom is set to star in Channel 4's upcoming comedy series, Stepping Up, about a hapless stepdad who brings well intentioned chaos to his new family unit. Tom stars alongside Josh Pugh (Sneakerhead), Denise Welch (Waterloo Road, Benidorm), Sophia Di Martino (Loki, Flowers), Lucia Keskin (Things You Should Have Done, Big Boys) and Jeff Mirza (Bridget Jones: Mad About the Boy) in the new series.
Samantha's home life
When she's not on a film set, Samantha can be found at home in St Margarets, London.
In an interview with The Guardian in 2024, the actress revealed that she likes to spend her Sundays "slobbing-out-Sundays-with-husband" or hosting guests for lunch.
The couple also enjoy dining at their favourite restaurant, Adesso Sicilia, in Richmond. "My husband and I are very middle-aged – we like to go places where they know who we are," she said. "We get kisses and the menu’s not too big, so you don’t have to make too many decisions."
The Marlow Murder Club returns on Wednesday 18 March at 8pm on U&Drama.
