ITV has a gripping new thriller in the works, and it sounds unmissable.
The upcoming psychological series, titled The Only Suspect, is based on the bestselling novel by Louise Candlish and is billed as a "gripping, twisting thriller" which "explores obsession, deception, betrayal, the consequences of the recklessness of youth and secrets that refuse to stay hidden".

As a big thriller fan, I'm definitely keeping my eye out for this one. Not only is the series penned by Simon Ashdown, who has writing credits on tense thrillers Our House and Trigger Point, but I can't wait to see Kevin McKidd swap the Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital for London's leafy suburbs.

What to expect from The Only Suspect
The story follows couple Alex and Beth, who live a picture-perfect life in a leafy London suburb which hides a devastating truth.
The story moves between the present day and mid-90s Camden, opening during the sweltering summer of 1995, when a young man buries a body during a violent storm.

"Thirty years later, another heatwave grips a very different world. The abandoned railway
track where the body was hidden - running behind Alex and Beth's street - is being transformed into a nature trail, spearheaded by Beth herself. What is a triumph for the neighbourhood instead threatens catastrophe for Alex. Because Alex is the young man who buried the body."
"Having spent decades living under an assumed name, Alex now faces the unravelling of everything he has built. Featuring author Louise Candlish's trademark whiplash plot twists and turns, the series promises to keep viewers "enthralled, delivering an intoxicating blend of emotional punch and edge-of-your-seat tension, highlighting two starkly contrasting eras".
Who stars in The Only Suspect?
Kevin McKidd leads the cast as Alex. Speaking about the role, he said in a statement: "Working with ITV on The Only Suspect feels like coming home for me.

Further casting details have yet to be announced.
When will The Only Suspect be released?
ITV has yet to confirm a release date, but with filming set to begin in London this Spring, we'd imagine a late 2026 or early 2027 is likely.
