Grease was famed not only for its undeniably groovy soundtrack but also for its stellar cast who captured the hearts of not only America, but the entire world, as they navigated high school romances, friendships and future goals.

Featuring household names John Travolta, Olivia Newton-John, and Stockard Channing, the 1978 film long survived its release date and enjoys a non-moving spot on the list of global cult classics.

After starring in the Hollywood hit, the cast went on to carve out illustrious careers in acting, earning themselves a small fortune as they sailed through audition after audition.

Almost 50 years since Danny and Sandy lit up the screen, we're taking a look at the primary cast's net worth to date, including some who passed away with depleted fortunes…

Rising to fame as high school heartthrob Danny Zuko, John was 24 years old when the movie landed in cinemas. He had appeared in Saturday Night Fever as Tony Manero beforehand, giving him acting kudos ahead of Grease-mania.

Since then, John, who is now 72, starred in a host of massive movies, including Hairspray, Gotti, Pulp Fiction, and Look Who's Talking

He continues to work as a successful actor, maintaining his multi-million dollar, fifty-year career into his later years. His net worth as of 2026 is estimated to be $250 million, according to Celebrity Net Worth.

Before her untimely death on 8 August 2022 at age 73 after being diagnosed with breast cancer, Olivia thrilled Grease fans with her portrayal of Sandy Olsson.

Following her leading role in the coming-of-age love story, Olivia also appeared in 1980's Xanadu and reunited with John in Two of a Kind, three years later.

Her final film appearance was in The Very Excellent Mr Dundee in 2020, two years before she died.

Through her work as a singer and an actress, when she died, Olivia was worth an estimated $60 million. She amassed her fortune after she sold over 100 million records, starred in Grease, and through a host of other business ventures.

Now 82 years old, Stockard played the beloved 17-year-old Betty Rizzo when she was actually 33-years-old herself, in Grease.

After playing Rizzo, the star went on to play First Lady Abbey Bartlet in The West Wing for seven years, and also added TV credits in Batman Beyond, Out Of Practice and The Good Wife to her acting CV.

She is also no stranger to the Broadway scene, starring in It's Only A Play, Other Desert Cities and the West End's Apologia.

Stockard was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in a Leading Role after acting in Six Degrees of Separation and has won Emmy and Tony awards.

As of 2026, her net worth is estimated to be around $15 million.

Playing Stockard's love interest in Grease, Jeff found global fame as Kenickie and sadly died in 2011 at age 60 following complications from pneumonia and sepsis.

He also struggled with long-term substance abuse issues during his life, which led to financial issues, a fact well-documented on the reality show Celebrity Rehab with Dr Drew.

Jeff played one-fifth of the T-Birds in the hit film and went on to star in several TV series after the success of Grease, including Taxi and Babylon 5

When he died, he left behind a net worth of $250,000, a figure that was dramatically impacted by his substance abuse.
