As she celebrates her 50th birthday, Emma Willis is fitter than ever and has credited her lean, muscular physique to an array of strength training exercises she prioritises for longevity as she ages.
The Voice presenter is a mother to three children, whom she welcomed with her musician husband, Matt Willis, 42, and turned 50 years old on Wednesday, 18 March.
In recent years, the TV personality has spoken openly about her journey with health, fitness and self-care and has been a prominent voice in promoting the benefits of looking after her body as she entered mid-life.
Emma revealed the core exercises she has added to her weekly routine to maintain her chiselled physique and what she considers to be most important: her strength.
She explained: "I just want to be fit, strong and healthy. I love Reformer Pilates, boxing and strength training." The star continued telling Sheer Luxe: "I want strong muscles just in case my bones give up on me. It’s all about longevity."
Delving deeper into how she takes care of her body now, as opposed to her routines when she was younger, Emma also previously highlighted her non-negotiables when it comes to optimising her health.
"There are several ways I look after myself now. For example, I really prioritise sleep. It's very fashionable to talk about that now, but in your 40s, among all the other changes, I think it’s so important," she said.
The star added that she tries to "do a bit of a body scan at night just to switch [her] brain off" and takes a probiotic to help with her gut and digestion.
Emma turns 50
The Love is Blind: UK presenter celebrated the eve of her birthday with friends and shared an insight into her night on Instagram, hours before she hit her big milestone.
Posing with old friends, Emma beamed at the camera as it captured her last lunch as a 49-year-old. She spent the meal with Richard Smith, Hersha Verity, and makeup artist Amanda Bowen.
The four pals stood in an opulent dining room with huge brown leather sofas and a quirky carpet and gorged on what appeared to be some kind of pistachio dessert.
Emma captioned her post: "Birthday eve lunch with the originals, love you @chardsmith78 @hershapatel @amandahbowen" and signed off with a string of heart emojis.
Famous faces rushed to her comment section to wish her a happy birthday, including Amanda Holden, who said: "Happiest of birthdays", and Ruth Langsford, who added: "Happy Birthday to you!"
Rochelle Humes commented with a flurry of heart-eyed emojis, and This Morning baker Juliet Sear said: "Birthday eve, exciting enjoy such a special birthday coming xx."
