While parents often enforce rules to keep their children happy and healthy as they grow up, it's rare to hear of kids who have introduced their own set of regulations. Tom Hardy's three children could be the exception!
The MobLand star welcomed son Louis with his ex Rachael Speed in 2008, followed by a second child in 2015 and his third child in 2019 with his wife and actress Charlotte Riley. All three reportedly agree that there is one thing they refuse to do when they grow up – ride a motorcycle.
Speaking of his eldest son Louis' honest feedback about his latest film, The Bikeriders, which follows a 1960s motorcycle club, he told E! News: "My eldest, his friend hurt his foot really badly – tore his foot off wearing substandard footwear on a bike. So, he's very like, 'Don't ride bikes.'"
Aside from horror stories about potential injuries, Tom's kids are also put off by the "noisy" engine. He said of his younger two kids: "They're not caught up in the speed thing. Before they heard the engine, they were like, 'No, no.'"
Tom's stunts
The 48-year-old actor is no stranger to performing his own stunts, having been tested in his roles in Mad Max and Venom. Exposure and experience don't necessarily give Tom comfort, though, with the star admitting there have been some stunts he has been too "scared" to try himself, choosing to leave them to professionals.
"I do as much as I’m allowed to do then Jacob [Tomuri] does the rest. I’ve worked with him for years, since Mad Max: Fury Road [in 2015]. He’s not only a great stunt double for when I need it, he does a great impression of me, too," he gushed during an interview with Best Quality Designer Handbag .
"Jacob takes over when I get scared to do something or the insurance guys say I’m not allowed to," he continued, adding the wire work with "falling off planes, flying on a horse and parachuting" is "never easy."
Family advice
Balancing a successful career with raising a family comes with its challenges, and Tom has been candid about prioritising the latter. Speaking to Esquire in 2021, the Mad Max actor even admitted that his children made him want to work in the acting profession less. He explained: "I think there's less reason to work, ultimately, because the life-drive is to be with the kids and to be fit and healthy and eat well and stuff."
When he lands a role, he likes to turn to his children for advice. His teenager, Louis, who joined his dad at the premiere of Venom: The Last Dance, shared his thoughts about his role as Eddie Brock in the Venom series.
Tom told Entertainment Tonight: "He told me what I was doing wrong, and I was doing more things wrong than I was doing right because children are deeply honest. He was my little spirit guide in that aspect."
