Rain is certainly no reason to retreat into sartorial surrender. In fact, wet weather is fashion's cue to have fun. Think of it as your runway moment with a little extra gloss thanks to rain-soaked pavements and a cinematic gust blowing your umbrella inside out.

Dressing for drizzle requires a little strategy and some key pieces (think a slick trench, a snuggly scarf and boots that can tackle the terrain in style).

Heart Evangelista wears a black biker leather jacket with oversized fluffy / faux fur / feathers details, a green leather oversized shirt, a shiny embellished with rhinestones crop top / bras, black leather wide leg flared pants, a clutch, holds an umbrella outside Bluemarble, during the Menswear Fall/Winter 2024/2025 as part of Paris Fashion Week on January 17, 2024 in Paris, France.© Getty Images

Texture moves up the agenda with fabrics such as vinyl and mesh taking centre stage, teamed with boots polished to a mirror shine that rivals the puddles. After all, a little rain only heightens the drama, and if the recent shows in London and New York have taught us anything - what's fashion without a little drama, eh?

The starting point of our sartorial search? Why Copenhagen Fashion Week, of course, where in January, the weather rarely plays ball, but everybody looks fantastic - naturally.

Clock Evi Wave and Sophia Geiss showcasing how incredible a trench coat in a neutral hue can look when teamed with fun accessories (aka the AW26 runway street style trend - the pillbox hat).

Evi Wave attending the Aiayu show during Copenhagen Fashion Week AW26, is seen wearing a Ganni camel wool trench coat that features a collar, double-breasted button-front closure, pockets, two adjustable eyelet belts and a GANNI logo on the chest; hanged to the belt loops there is a Ganni keychain charm with different metal pendants like a heart and a Ganni logo; blue straight-leg denim jeans from Closed; round toe Clarks shoes in brown and white cow print with rounded toe and low profile sole; a pink Musubi tote bag from Acne Studios in soft calfskin leather with twisted knots on each side, embossed Acne Studios logo in front with a decorative floral charm attached to the handle; multiple silver rings; her brown hair is worn loose under a blue denim beret from Ruslan Baginskiy with embroidered logo on January 29, 2026 in Copenhagen© Getty Images

As H! Fashion's Fashion Features Editor and trend expert Tania Leslau notes: "To get ahead of the rain game, it's worth nailing a few outfit formulas for yourself to feel prepared, so if we get that unexpected downpour at the last minute, it doesn’t need to ruin your entire day."

"Not to mention, 'gorpcore' is always on-trend, meaning waterproofs, hiking gear and cargo pants are very much in vogue. Perfect for combating the inevitable drizzle in the utmost style."
