Don McLean, 80, and his 31-year-old girlfriend, Paris Dylan, have two luxurious bases to call home. The 'American Pie' hitmaker has two stateside properties, one in Camden, Maine where he has lived since 1984 and another in California's Palm Desert in the Coachella region.
Speaking to The Times, he gave an insight into his private properties. "The house in Maine is traditional. It’s full of oriental rugs and solid pieces of Sheraton, Chippendale and Hepplewhite furniture. I love antiques. I’ve been collecting them for most of my life." As well as the (by the sounds of it) stunning interiors, the home also boasts incredible views across Megunticook Lake.
He also touched on the décor inside his other home, saying: "The Palm Desert place is quite different. It’s single-storey and designed in the 'desert modern' style." He added that his media room is the "most important room in the house" where he watches movies and has his song memorabilia on the walls.
Don was born in New Rochelle, New York and he opened up about the "sad" news about his childhood neighbourhood in the same interview. "We lived in the Larchmont Woods area, which had 60 acres of forest, and that was incredible for a young kid. Sadly, it isn’t there any more. Little by little the land was snapped up and new houses were built on it," he said.
Don's model girlfriend
Paris was hired as a social media manager before falling for the US singer-songwriter. They have been together since 2016, the same year Don's second wife Patrisha McLean filed for divorce.
© Getty ImagesSpeaking about the 48-year age gap between himself and Paris, Don told Fox News Digital: "As long as she's happy and I'm happy, we take it one day at a time, and we'll move ahead, obviously, and who knows what the future holds, but nobody knows what the future holds anyway. So I'm just out there on the edge, dancing."
On their 10-year anniversary together, he penned a tribute to say: "We’ve been together for more than 10 years and you are the love of my life."
Fractured family
Don and his second wife Patrisha were married from 1987 to 2016 and share two children, Wyatt and Jackie, together - but Don and his daughter are now estranged.
Jackie told Rolling Stone magazine that her childhood was a "constant state of fear," thanks to her father, but Don has clapped back. Defending his parenting style to the MailOnline, he stated: "I have a son [Wyatt], you know, who grew up the same way, who thinks I’m a great father and who has none of these complaints. But I said to my daughter, ‘If you speak out about me and trash me, I’m going to disinherit you.'"
