The British royal family has faced renewed scrutiny following developments involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor. Now, new photographs show his youngest daughter, Princess Eugenie, returning to public view after keeping a low profile in recent days.

Determined to maintain a sense of normality during a difficult period, Princess Eugenie was joined by her husband, Jack Brooksbank, with whom she shares two children. The couple, married for seven years, were seen on a relaxed outing together in Notting Hill, one of west London's best-known neighbourhoods.

Their low-key walk marked Eugenie's first public appearance since the latest developments involving her father.

Keeping life normal

In pictures obtained by People, the monarch's niece, who is twelfth in line to the throne, opted for a casual look that made it easy to blend in. Princess Eugenie wore leggings, sneakers, a black sweatshirt with neon lettering, a jacket, her hair pulled back in a ponytail, and a cap. Her husband, who has business interests in Portugal, was also dressed casually, in sneakers and a wool hat to ward off the chilly London winter.

Princess Eugenie appeared relaxed, as a source close to her told People: "She was chatting with someone she knew and seemed very relaxed. It was all very informal. She was laughing and joking. She looked happy and at ease, not like someone trying to hide."

Princess Eugenie ordered takeaway coffee from a place called Hagen Espresso Bar and spoke with a friend before returning to the black SUV in which she and her husband departed.

Holiday abroad when the news broke

The news of Andrew's arrest took place when his youngest daughter was abroad on holiday. Princess Eugenie was enjoying a family getaway to Gstaad, the exclusive Swiss resort, where she behaved naturally and made no attempt to hide.

An eyewitness told HELLO!, the couple was with their children, the nanny, and a group of friends at one of the area's most popular restaurants: "I was surprised to see her because I thought she would keep a low profile given everything that's going on."

Why Eugenie and Beatrice remain Princesses

Many voices have questioned whether she and her sister Princess Beatrice should also lose their titles, like their father, but the truth is that King Charles has made no move to suggest they will cease to be Princesses. It is worth noting that the King's grandchildren hold princely titles and were born during the reign of Elizabeth II.

Both have also maintained an active presence in public life in recent years. In fact, Princess Beatrice became one of her uncle's Counsellors of State after his accession to the throne in 2022, a position that allows her to act on behalf of the monarch in case of illness or travel abroad.
