Thames Valley Police end searches at Royal Lodge

Searches at Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor's former Windsor home, Royal Lodge, have now ended, according to Thames Valley Police, following his arrest on Thursday, 19 February.

Detectives searched his home over the weekend and into Monday, but the force confirmed in a statement last night that searches on the property are done.

Assistant Chief Constable Oliver Wright said: “Officers have now left the location we have been searching in Berkshire. This concludes the search activity that commenced following our arrest of a man in his sixties from Norfolk on Thursday.

“We understand the significant public interest in this case and our investigation remains ongoing. It is important that our investigators are given the time and space to progress their work. We will provide updates when it is appropriate to do so, but this is unlikely to be for some time," he continued.

Prince William the scientist?

The Prince of Wales was greeted with applause on a trip to the Francis Crick Institute in central London today. The heir to the throne, who was visiting the pioneering biomedical research centre to spotlight British innovation, drew hundreds of scientists out of their labs, despite his visit being kept a secret.

William received thunderous applause as he made his way to meet a group of researchers studying how the brain works. Neuroscientists Andreas Schaefer and Katharina Schmack talked the royal visitor through their studies on how "the neural neurons compute" and how scientists are developing ways to help restore speech in patients, which William said was "incredible".

"Presumably you can understand emotional regulation?" the Prince asked. "Does that help us understand mental health? That wasn’t a deliberate segue, I’m trying to think of some good questions to ask!"

Katharina asked him to "imagine a young man in his 20s, about to graduate, thinking about proposing to his girlfriend, but then something shifts. He can’t sleep, he becomes restless, and he hears voices that say really bad things about him. That is what psychosis looks like."

Told that the condition can affect one in 100 people, William looked shocked and replied: "Wow".

Queen Elizabeth, the royal rule breaker

Queen Elizabeth was known for her obedience to royal duty, but she wasn't afraid of a cheeky rule-breaking moment now and then.

One of those moments was the art of applying makeup. Preening in public is considered a complete no-go, with royal ladies expected to arrive at royal engagements looking pristine with perfect hair and makeup, without on-the-go touch-ups.

However, on three occasions during her reign, the Queen was spotted blatantly flouting the unwritten rule as she applied her lipstick for the world to see.

Discover Queen Camilla's unexpected 'special' link to Heated Rivalry's famous filming location

Heated Rivalry fans may still be at the cottage, our Los Angeles correspondent Rebecca Lewis writes, but she has been curious about the other filming locations for the Crave Media series –  and discovered a brilliant royal crossover.

The opening few minutes of episode two play out to the entirety of Wet Leg's "Mangetout," with scenes of Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) and Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) that give viewers important insight into their growing relationship across the early years as they compete on the ice and remain in close contact through text messages.

As the years pass, Ilya spends his summer breaks back in Moscow, and we see him staying active by running around what is meant to be a Russian estate, but in reality is Dundurn Castle, whose patron is none other than Queen Camilla.

Princess Kate's surprising approach to being offered 'freebies'

The Princess of Wales is known for her effortless style, and while the royal could track down just about any item of clothing if she wanted to, her favourite jeans designer has shared that she remains adamant about paying for her own pieces.

Speaking to the Daily Mail, jeans designer and founder of IDA Donna Ida Thornton said: "It's more beneficial for designers when the royals buy clothes and not receive freebies."

"It shows that they want it and support your brand and it's not just product being chucked around." She added: "The royals are very conscious like that, and they would always want to pay for things and support brands."
