Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine are preparing for an exciting milestone – and were looking very grown up in new photographs shared by the palace this week.
The royal twins, who are the youngest children of King Frederik and Queen Mary of Denmark, will be confirmed at Fredensborg Castle Church on 18 April.
Ahead of the service, the palace released brand new photos of the twins with their grandmother, Queen Margrethe, taking a stroll after the Sunday service in preparation. The royal confessor, Bishop Henrik Wigh-Poulsen, will officiate at the church ceremony, which takes place next month.
In a post shared to social media, the palace wrote: "Over the past 100 years, Fredensborg Castle Church has been the center for particularly royal confirmations. Both Queen Margrethe and His Majesty the King were confirmed here in 1955 and 1981, respectively. Most recently, the confirmations of His Royal Highness the Crown Prince in 2021 and Her Royal Highness Princess Isabella in 2022 took place in the church."
A Confirmation ceremony sees Christians renew their baptismal vows, and often take place when participants are teenagers. They are important events for the royal family.
Strong family resemblance
Delighted by a rare picture of the twins, royal fans soon spotted a close resemblance between Vincent and his older brother, Crown Prince Christian, 20. The twins also have an older sister, Princess Isabella, 18.
One person noted: "Vincent looks so much like Christian😍 at first, I thought it was Christian. King Frederik mini me and Queen Mary mini me."
A second said: "Did Frederik and Mary send Vincent some Vegemite while they've been in Australia? He has grown half a metre since I last saw him! Meanwhile, congratulations to the babies of the family, who are, literally! growing up fast."
"Young Prince has had a growth spurt. He's overtaken his twin sister by a lot," another person wrote. "Gosh, TRH are so grown up! I remember seeing them as small children like DAYS AGO! God bless them!" commented another.
The twins' parents, Mary and Frederik, have recently returned from a trip to Australia, after meeting there in Sydney more than 20 years ago. It was an emotional return home for Mary, who is originally from Tasmania.
Growing up fast
In January, the king and queen released new photographs of their twins as they marked their 15th birthday.
Prince Vincent and Princess Josephine have attended separate schools since 2023. The princess switched to Kildegård Privatskole in Hellerup from Tranegårdskolen, where her brother is still enrolled.
In 2025, Josephine made a huge decision as she opted to move to Spir Eferskole - a boarding school located 174 miles away from the royal family's main residence in Copenhagen.
The efterskole is a form of boarding school unique to Denmark. Students aged 14 to 18 can choose to spend a year or two of their lower secondary school education before continuing on to upper secondary education. The schools combine general education with specific interests, such as sport, the arts and music.
