Duchess Sophie turned heads in an electric blue shirtdress during the opening of the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Veterans Centre at Royal Hospital Chelsea, and fans online agreed it was one of her "best" looks yet.

The 61-year-old Duchess of Edinburgh stunned in a recycled ensemble she previously wore in March, at the opening of Radley College’s new music school, albeit with refreshed accessories.

Standing tall in light brown Jimmy Choo 'Love 85' croc embossed pumps, the mum-of-two chose to rewear her electric navy printed silk twill Gabriela Hearst Phelan maxi shirtdress for the occasion.

Setting her back £2,646.82, the dress complimented her complexion and featured a dramatic pussy bow that tied underneath a sharp, pointed collar. The garment also had billowing sleeves that cuffed at her wrists and a sewn-in belt that cinched her waist.

She carried her things in a £330.85 Cleo blue Sophia Hasburg clutch, according to the Instagram page, Royal Fashion Police, which matched the blue patterned tones of her dress perfectly.

Sweeping her blonde hair into a messy chignon that sat at the nape of her neck, Sophie tucked wispy tendrils behind her ears, showing off her £140.25 Giulia Barela small drop gold earrings.

Sophie's day out in Chelsea

The official Royal Family Instagram account shared pictures from Sophie's engagement and added multiple angles of her designer outfit to their feed.

Alongside images of the royal interacting with the hospital's resident veterans, the account penned a caption that read: "The Duchess of Edinburgh has formally opened the Queen Elizabeth II Memorial Veterans Centre at @RoyalHospitalChelsea.

"This new centre will provide a welcoming space for veterans to socialise, stay active and build friendships."

It added: "During the visit, the Duchess toured the centre and met veterans who are benefiting from the Chelsea Pensioner Veterans Outreach Programme."

A fan favourite

Followers of the royal fashion fan account were loving Sophie's blue look, with many dubbing it the "best" they had seen her look while she was out and about, performing her duties as a senior royal.

"Beautiful dress, one of her best," a fan commented under her outfit, while another agreed and said: "Beautiful!!!! Even that simple hair collection is perfect for the ensemble."

"This is the best I’ve seen her, the dress has a beautiful fit and colour, not frumpy, no espadrilles!", another noted beside the picture of the royal's outfit.

Susie Hasler, a colour expert and award-winning personal stylist who runs Styled By Susie, explained why Sophie looks so radiant in blue. She claimed the Duchess of Edinburgh is firmly a spring.

Susie revealed: "She looks so radiant in clear, uplifting shades. Think zingy brights, fresh greens, coral, aqua and warm blues.

"They all mirror her warm, glowing complexion and bring a real sense of energy to her outfits." According to the expert, Sophie's greatest sartorial strength is her ability to balance vibrancy with softness.
