According to a recent study, 32% to 46% of American adults have at least one tattoo, and some of the Today Show stars are among them.

Carson Daly has made no secret of his love of body art and is on his way to having two full sleeves. However, one of his colleagues has sworn off any more tattoos after two.

However, there is one Today star who appears to regret ever getting inked and has publicly called their tattoo "hideous" and "awful."

Find out the Today stars with surprising tattoos below.

Savannah has 'all my love' in her father's handwriting

Savannah Guthrie

Savannah Guthrie has two tattoos, both of which she got with her good friend, Drew Barrymore.

In 2023, she had "all my love" inked on her right forearm, and it has a sentimental meaning behind it. "This is an exact carbon copy of my father's handwriting," she said on Today.

"'All my love.' He wrote a love letter to my mom and this is his writing. And, so that's the first time in my life, I'm 51 years old, that I've had a tattoo, that I ever wanted a tattoo. And it's not only his writing, so he's with me, but I'm trying to make it my mantra for life."

Savannah's kids each drew a heart for her tattoo

In 2025, Savannah had her second tattoo to celebrate the publication of her children's book, Mostly What God Does Is Love You.

The anchor had two tiny hearts, drawn by each of her children, Charley and Vale, inked below her wrist. "I just want to say my little boy did one of the hearts and Vale did the other," she explained on the show.

It seems two are enough for Savannah. "I'm done (getting tattoos) though. I quit," she added.

Dylan Dreyer all smiles on Today

Dylan thinks her tattoo is 'awful'

Dylan Dreyer

Dylan Dryer has one tattoo on her lower back, but it appears to be a regret as she admitted on the air in 2018 that it's "awful."

The inspiration came from her grandfather's nickname for her when she was a child, as he would affectionately call her "Turtle." However, that affection didn't transfer to her tattoo.

"The first turtle was so bad. I had this original turtle that looked like a Koopa Troopa from Mario Brothers, red eyes, long neck. Didn't look like a turtle," she said on Today.

"So then I got a bigger turtle over it, hiding the even uglier turtle. So, I just have a series of ugly turtles on top of each other because I didn't want to offend the tattoo artist."

Her feelings about her ink are still sour, as only last May did she call it "hideous" after co-star Craig Melvin tried to get her to reveal it on air.

Carson Daly has arond 10 tattoos

Carson Daly

Carson Daly is the most tattooed of the Today stars and has over 10, mostly on his arms, but each one has a sentimental meaning.

"I want it to be timeless – something where you look at it in 30 years, and you're not embarrassed by what you have," Carson said on the show in 2014. "I'm a family-first kind of guy, so everything on my body is really about my family."

Among his tattoos is a one-eyed Jack playing card for his son, Jack. "I designed it myself, and it has a lot of Jack references," he told Today.com. He has two fierce lions with a rose in its mane on his lower arms, representing "a symbol of strength for my daughters." Carson also has a woman warrior on his right forearm to honor his daughter, Etta Jones Daly. "It looks like Wonder Woman kinda."

Carson has tattoos dedicated to several family members

He also has a tattoo inspired by his late dad, James Daly. "He was a Corvette dealer, and the tattoo is designed after a hood ornament of a 1977 Corvette that he left me… I wanted a nice memento to my father without it being too somber."

For his grandfather, a green beret in the Army Special Forces, Carson has a design "from his actual green beret that he left me. This text in it is Latin for 'to free the oppressed.'"

He also has his niece's name, Jaden Patricia, on his arm, above a tribute to his stepdad. "Cutty Sark is my stepdad's favorite drink. It's a famous, old-school whiskey. His nickname is Curly, so I changed it from Cutty Sark to Curly Sark… So it's an homage to my stepdad, who is like my father. I essentially have had two fathers."

In 2023, Carson had his mom's handwriting tattooed underneath the tribute to his stepdad. "I always loved my mom's handwriting. When I was a kid she'd write notes on my school lunch napkins & end it with 'ILYTWWF' (I Love You The Whole World Full) then on every card or note I ever got since," he wrote on Instagram.

"I miss her something fierce, but so grateful for all the incredible memories… (I also love it’s below my dad's homage to whisky! lol)."

Carson got a crab tattoo to cover an ex-girlfriend's name

His other tattoos include 'NYC', which he got in New York the day after September 11. The Statue of Liberty, '456', the logo of a record label he had in New York City, and a crab on his ankle, which was a cover-up of an ex-girlfriend's name.

Jenna almost had 'survivor' tattooed on her back

Jenna Bush Hager

While Jenna Bush Hager doesn't have any tattoos, she did almost get 'Survivor' inked across her back after breaking up with a boyfriend.

"The Destiny's Child song was popular (at the time)," Jenna revealed on Today in 2023 as the inspiration behind the idea.

Jenna even went as far as going to a tattoo parlor: "Thank you, Jesus, it was closed," she added. "Could you imagine if I had 'Survivor' tattooed?"

Last year, she revealed that she once pranked her dad, former President George W. Bush, with a fake tattoo on her lower back.

"Barbara drew a Texas longhorn in Sharpie right here," Jenna said of her twin sister, Barbara Bush. "I showed my dad and pretended I got one. He believed me, and he was like, 'OK, when you're 80, you know what that's going to look like.'"
