Her wellness routine
The entertainer's glow starts from the inside-out, as she consciously carves out alone time to decompress and relax after a busy day's work, even when she's not on vacation.
She expressed to Glamour: "I take a bath first. I meditate. I put my phone down and play with the kids without a phone, without any distraction. And for me, I'm a big walker. I can't tell you how much I do my best thinking there."
Mariska added: "Also, walking with a friend. For me, it's so much about getting back to basics. My favorite thing to do is watch documentaries. It's such a great way to learn about something, being completely immersed and have a visceral response. That's my drug of choice."
Her beauty routine
Part of her secret to maintaining a youthful appearance is staying consistent with her beauty routine of using gua sha and lymphatic drainage massages.
Mariska revealed: "I'm kind of a tried-and-true girl. I'm a big gua sha girl. That's a game changer. I use the jade gua sha, but I have every kind of shape because once you figure out how to do it, I've been blown away about how effective it is and how it actually works. When I'm tired or I don't sleep well—and I don't sleep a whole lot—gua sha can wake me up and move everything around."
She expressed that even if you're new to using the beauty instrument, social media makes the knowledge accessible for everyone to learn, adding: "It's super simple. You go to the hubs of where the lymph nodes are and press it 30 times, sort of pumping."
In addition to the ancient Chinese beauty practice, she is also on board with the growing trend of lymphatic drainage massages.
Mariska expressed: "All this science that’s coming out about lymphatic drainage and the fact that we have agency over it now, that we can also go, 'Oh my God, I'm super puffy.' And then we just start doing this 30 times and doing this 30 times and under the arms and behind the things. That was a game changer for me. That was really a game changer."
