Celine Dion is truly having the happiest of birthdays, finally confirming to the world her long-awaited comeback.
The singer celebrated her 58th birthday on March 30 with a spectacular light show that filled Paris' grand Eiffel Tower, bearing with it an announcement about her big return.
The singer also scrubbed her Instagram page completely clean and shared an emotional birthday video with fans about the new shows, thanking them for supporting her through her health challenges.
"This year, I'm getting the best birthday gift of my life…I'm getting the chance to see you, to perform for you once again in Paris, beginning in September," she gushed. Watch the full video below…
Throwing it back
The concerts mark a significant comeback for the star, a pivotal moment in a career that began over four decades ago, when she wrote and composed her very first song, "Ce n'était qu'un rêve," at the age of 12.
By her teens, Celine was performing on grand stages around the world, even traveling all the way to Tokyo in 1982 to compete at the Yamaha World Popular Song Festival.
Just a couple years later, she was performing in front of large crowds and important dignitaries, including this moment captured from one of her first high-profile shows in 1984, when she was just 16 years old.
Celine performed before Pope John Paul II at the Olympic Stadium in Montreal, September 10, 1984, wearing a bright blue pantsuit with white heels, bearing a confidence and stage presence far beyond her years.
Soon after, she was performing for TV shows, like the pictured appearance on Champs Elysees in 1985 at 17. And just three years later, in 1988, Celine would catapult to global fame when she won the Eurovision Song Contest for Switzerland with the song "Ne partez pas sans moi." And all of this before she even turned 21, talk about an icon!
Celine's comeback
It was first reported earlier this month that Celine will be performing a series of concerts at the Paris La Défense Arena, her first shows since her 2024 Summer Olympics performance of Edith Piaf's "Hymne A L'Amour."
The shows will also be her first since the Courage World Tour, which began back in 2019 and was cut short in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic. It, along with her Las Vegas shows, was eventually canceled in 2022 when she revealed her stiff-person syndrome diagnosis.
Since then, Celine has taken a backseat from performing, spending several months out of the spotlight. Over the last two years, however, the singer has become more active on social media and in the public eye, including appearances at not only the Olympics, but also the 2025 Eurovision Song Contest.
Celine will perform a total of 10 concerts, beginning on September 12 and ending on October 14, the reception for which could indicate a permanent return to the stage and touring.
