Charlize Theron has revealed that her two daughters have taken on an active role in her dating life.

The Apex star, who is mom to Jackson, 14, and August, 11, admitted that she feared her children would be "threatened" by her pursuing a relationship, but confessed they have become vocal supporters.

"My kids are at an age now where they actually enjoy that I'm dating because they want to be involved," the 50-year-old actress said during an appearance on The Drew Barrymore Show this week.

"It's really funny how I was scared they'd be threatened by it, and now they're like, 'Mom, is he texting you? Like, go on the date, mom.'"

While she may have her kids' support, Charlize admitted she isn't looking for a traditional relationship.

"I really mean this — people think I joke — I don't think I could ever live with somebody again," she told host Drew Barrymore, 51.

"I would love for you to be close, like buy the house down the street, but I don't know if I can."

While the actress may feel this way now, she noted her requirements could change once she becomes an empty nester.

"Maybe it's because I still have my daughters in the house, and maybe that will change when I'm an empty nester, but I'm looking for something very specific," she added.

When Drew replied that she loves "prioritizing my kids," Charlize said: "It's impossible not to. Your kids come first. They always come first."

Charlize adopted her daughter Jackson from her home country of South Africa in 2012. Three years later, the Mad Max: Fury Road actress expanded her family again, adopting August in 2015.

The star opened up to People in 2018 about her decision to adopt. "Even when I was in relationships, I was always honest with my partners, that adoption was how my family would look one day," Charlize said. "This was definitely not a second option for me. It was always my first."

She also spoke candidly about parenting two Black daughters. "I want them to know who they are, and I want them to be so [expletive] proud of who they are," she said.

Charlize said adoption was always her plan to start a family

"Building confidence for them right now is an oath I made to myself when I brought them home. They need to know where they come from and be proud of that.

"But they're going to have to know that it's a different climate for them than it is for me, and how unfair that is. If I can do something about that, of course I'm going to."

Charlize joked her daughters were 'hormonal nightmares'

Charlize recently admitted that parenting her daughters has become harder now that they're older.

"They just turn into hormonal nightmares," she jokingly said during an appearance on an episode of New Heights.

"Like, I'm getting my [expletive] handed to me from the moment that I walk into the house. And all these things are gonna serve them so well in life, but I might not make it."
