Emily Blunt knows fashion. The Devil Wears Prada 2 star wore a $500,000 pearl body necklace from Mikimoto to this year's Met Gala, stunning fans and those on the red carpet. But, what would Emily's movie-boss, Miranda Priestly, think of her extravagant outfit?
"I hope she'd like it," Emily told HELLO! on Monday, May 4 at the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York City, closing her hands as though she was praying.
The 43-year-old actress reprised her role in the iconic fashion film alongside Meryl Streep, Anne Hathaway, and Stanley Tucci, which premiered on Friday, May 1, 2026. In the two films, Emily played Emily Charlton, the assistant to the ever-specific queen of the fashion world, Miranda Priestly, played by Meryl.
But, at the Met Gala, Emily knew she looked good. The actress walked the carpet with her sister, Felicity Blunt, and her co-star, Stanley, who is married to Felicity.
Inside Emily Blunt's Met Gala look
The British actress embodied this year's theme of "Fashion Is Art" by wearing a custom Ashi Studio tulle tailored, corseted bodice with beaded fringe tassel sleeves paired with simple, black silk trousers.
Emily accessorized her look with a half-million-dollar pearl body necklace by Mikimoto. The luxurious necklace was set in 18-karat white gold and featured a 21.85-carat pearl-shared morganite and 45.97 carats of diamonds.
The actress also wore Mikimoto's Bows Akoya Pearl Earrings, Bows Akoya Ring and Pearl Ring, which added up to an additional 45.04 carats of diamonds.
Of her look, Emily said in an official statement: "It was a lot of fun working with [stylist] Jessica [Paster] and deciding how we would interpret the theme this year. When we saw this extraordinary creation from Mikimoto, we knew it was perfect; it feels like wearable art and captures the idea of jewelry becoming part of the garment."
Emily Blunt's Met Gala looks over the years
Emily walked the Met Gala's red carpet for the first time in 2007, wearing a black sequin Calvin Klein dress, with her then-boyfriend Michael Bublé. Since then she's attended eight Met Galas, including this year's event, and always turns heads.
In 2012, five years after her debut, Emily and husband John Krasinski made their Met Gala debut, with the actress in a pink Calvin Klein gown. The couple also attended the 2013 Met Gala, but since then, Emily has gone stag.
For the 2016 Met Gala, the actress, who was pregnant with her second daughter, posed on the red carpet with friend and fellow-mom-to-be Olivia Wilde, who was pregnant with her daughter at the time.
At the iconic Camp: Notes on Fashion event in 2019, Emily wore a golden mermaid style gown with floral details by Michael Kors Collection paired with a matching headpiece. In 2021, the actress sported a gorgeous Miu Miu gown, while in 2023, she wore hand-sequined trousers with a matching satin overskirt, designed by Michael Kors.
