It looks like no one had a more eventful time at the Met Gala than Hugh Jackman!
The actor, 57, attended the biggest night in fashion on the first Monday of May in New York City with his date, girlfriend Sutton Foster, their first time at the event together.
The star-studded gala isn't just a way to donate to and support the Met's brilliant Costume Institute, but has also become one of the year's most reliable providers of viral moments.
And the star of the new The Sheep Detectives had a few to spare, sharing as much during an appearance on TODAY's Fourth Hour, aka TODAY with Jenna & Sheinelle on Wednesday, May 6.
One of the "cool moments" he recalled, turns out, came from a near-disaster for another A-lister and one of his closest celebrity friends, Blake Lively.
"Literally, as I'm saying this, I'm thinking maybe shouldn't say this, but Blake, my good friend Blake Lively, goes, 'Dude, I need some help with the dress!'," he told the hosts.
Blake, 38, wore an opulent archival Versace princess ball gown, a pastel dream with several multi-colored ruffles creating a giant train, a crystal-covered bodice, and a special Judith Leiber clutch with hand-drawn art by her four kids.
Hugh mentioned that Blake noted there was a hook that needed fastening, and he jokingly then texted her husband and frequent collaborator Ryan Reynolds: "'Ryan, is this cool? Are we good?' and he goes, 'Go for it, brother!'"
Blake has been a fixture of the Met Gala for years, having attended 11 times now. Her last appearance on the Met steps was back in 2022, before she'd welcomed her son Olin. Her comeback moment came just hours after she settled a lawsuit with Justin Baldoni over allegations made surrounding the filming of their movie It Ends With Us.
She told Vogue of her decision to attend: "It's an honor to attend with Donatella, one that I don't take lightly. I haven't been since giving birth to my fourth child."
"Every year I am a different version of myself than the last, so to be able to stand in the version of myself that I am today – and all the experiences I've had – in strength and confidence is important to me," Blake continued. "So is staying home on the couch with my kids in pajamas. Getting to do both is an honor I will never stop being grateful for."
Of the gown, which came from the brand's archival 2006 spring collection, she said: "Because the theme is based in art, I wanted to wear an archival piece. Clothing really is a canvas, and it tells a story, so to be able to pull from a piece that has its own history, and has stood the test of time, felt special."
The Gossip Girl star also noted of her kids' involvement with her clutch: "My kids each painted a watercolor painting. Each of my four kids did this, so I have them with me, because I'm shy too, so I just like to have the kids with me. Isn't that special?" joking, "I probably could have fit them under my dress, to be honest. I should have snuck them under there."
