Jimmy Kimmel didn't hold back when he tore into Donald Trump for being "too busy" to attend his son, Donald Trump Jr.'s, wedding to Bettina Anderson over the weekend.

The late-night talk show host poked fun at the president during his opening monologue on Jimmy Kimmel Live! on Tuesday, May 26.

"DJTJ and his new bride, Bettina, were married on Saturday on a private island in the Bahamas. It was a small ceremony with about 40 guests, none of whom were his father," Jimmy began.

He then read out Donald's reason for missing his son's big day, which he shared in a statement posted on Truth Social on May 22.

"While I very much wanted to be with my son, Don Jr., and the newest member of the Trump Family, his soon to be wife, Bettina, circumstances pertaining to Government, and my love for the United States of America, do not allow me to do so," he penned.

"I feel is it important for me to remain in Washington, D.C., at the White House during this important period of time," he added. "Congratulations to Don and Bettina! President Donald J. Trump."

"See, he can be warm when he wants to," Jimmy quipped. "He loves Don Jr. He just loves the United States more."

Jimmy then shocked the audience when he made a controversial joke about Donald's past friendship with Jeffrey Epstein, who died in 2019 while in custody awaiting trial on sex trafficking charges.

"He had circumstances pertaining to government to get to, and also flying to a private island makes him miss his friend Jeffrey, who he lost," Jimmy continued, leading to shocked gasps from the audience.

"This is a guy who golfs two, three times a week. He's going to UFC fights with Vanilla Ice. He was too busy for his son's wedding," Jimmy added.

"But he did say Don and Bettina are gonna have a great marriage — and this is a man who knows a great marriage. He's had three of them himself."

Jimmy went on: "Poor Don Jr. Without his father, they had to scramble to find somebody else to make a 90-minute toast about windmills and transgender weightlifters."

The screen then showed various headlines about Donald crashing wedding receptions, before Jimmy joked: "But the truth is, Donald Trump, he just isn't a guy who likes to go to — oh, never mind."

Jimmy then claimed that Donald Jr. and Bettina are planning to "celebrate their marriage at the White House" and Donald and First Lady Melania Trump are "expected to attend."

"Well, you'd hope so. They live there," Jimmy snarked. "Can you imagine if they didn't show up to that one, too? 'We wanted to make it, but we were unable to go downstairs.'"

According to a marriage certificate obtained by HELLO!, Donald Jr. and Bettina married on Thursday, May 21, 2026, with a low-key ceremony at Bettina's twin sister Kristina's home in West Palm Beach.

The intimate gathering was reportedly attended by only close family members and a small group of friends before the newlyweds jetted off to a private island in the Bahamas for a second ceremony.
