Hollywood heartthrob Jude Law, 53, went through a big midlife change when he found love again a decade ago. The Black Rabbit actor has been in several high-profile relationships over the decades and has a total of seven children in his famous blended family - including an 11-year-old daughter named Ada, who made headlines recently for an "upsetting" celebrity encounter with pop star Chappell Roan. Now, in his second act, the Hollywood heartthrob has reflected on how his rarely-seen second wife, business psychologist Phillipa Coan, created a healthy shift in his life.
When asked in an interview with GQ if his wife emboldened him professionally, the actor replied: "Yeah, I think so".
Jude credited his wife being a psychologist for their "very healthy relationship where we talk a lot about how we feel, our relationships with friends, relationships with our families, and she has a wonderful perspective on all of that."
© Getty Images"I think one should, in middle age, start to reflect," he told the outlet for his November 2024 cover interview. "What are the patterns I’ve created? What are the relationships I have? Why do I have them like that? How do I feel about them?”
He continued: "It is a really exciting and good place to be in your own life. And as an actor, it can be the beginning of a really exciting, fresh approach to the parts you play and where you are willing to go."
Inside Jude and Phillipa's private family life
Jude was in his '40s when he first met his future wife, Phillipa, in 2015. The couple, who went on to tie the knot in April 2019, have kept their decade-long relationship largely out of the spotlight with only the rare public appearance here and there.
"She's mine and no one else's… I'm very, very happy. Our relationship is a very private thing, and I think part of the fact it works so well is exactly because of that," Jude once told Modern Luxury magazine in the early days of their romance.

The couple posed for family photos with two of Jude's grown-up children, Iris, now 25, and Raff Law, 29, whom he shares with his ex-wife, actress Sadie Frost. Phillipa and Jude have previously looked loved-up in public at sports games, attending Wimbledon in 2016 and 2019, and packing on the PDA courtside at basketball games.
They have kids
Along with five other children from previous high-profile relationships, Jude is a dad to two young kids with his second wife. The Holiday actor confirmed he'd welcomed his sixth child, his first with Phillipa, during an appearance on The Tonight Show in September 2021.
Jude revealed their baby had been born during the COVID-19 pandemic, calling the experience "unusual", but said it had ultimately worked out in a "really wonderful" way.
"We feel pretty blessed that we're in a time that … we could just nest and enjoy each other's company," he added. The couple also reportedly welcomed a second child in early 2023, though neither of Jude and Phillipa's two children's names have been disclosed.
