ITV thrilled audiences during the 1990s with its output, and one of its biggest successes was with Boon, a drama series that followed the antics of fireman turned small-time businessman Ken Boon.

The show made household names of its stars, which included Michael Elphick, David Daker, Rachel Davies, Julie Graham and Saskia Wickham. The latter played Alex Wilton, who would become Ken's secretary, while also proving herself handy whenever he got caught in a scrap with a dodgy figure.

Saskia had acting credits in Villains and Clarissa before securing her big break on Boon. Following the show's conclusion, she landed another major role in ITV's hit medical drama, Peak Practice, playing Dr. Erica Matthews between 1996 and 1998.

The star has also appeared in Stig of the Dump, Waking the Dead, Holby City, Blue Murder and soap opera Hollyoaks, where she briefly played Anna Blake, the mother of several of the show's most iconic characters, including Sienna Blake.

Acting was always with Saskia as she grew up with her father, Jeffry Wickham, being a successful actor, who has credits in Before Winter Comes, The Sweeney, Another Country, The Remains of the Day and Space Race.

However, it's not just Saskia's father who is a TV star, as the 59-year-old is also married to a successful director, Robert Bierman. Here's all you need to know about the couple…

Saskia's famous husband Robert Bierman

Robert is a famous director, who has worked on the likes of Vampire's Kiss, Keep the Aspidistra Flying, Waking the Dead, The Bill and Holby City.

The director was originally supposed to direct the iconic horror film The Fly, which starred Jeff Goldblum and Geena Davis. However, one of his daughters was tragically killed in an accident before pre-production, leading to the star to withdraw from the project.

Saskia and Robert married in 2001, six years after the actress divorced from her former husband, Ilya Sapritsky. Speaking in 1998 as her Peak Practice character was due to be wed, Saskia shared her hopes that she might remarry.

"We've just finished filming the scene at the church," she said at the time. "I was in my dress and my veil and it was just wonderful, but I realise now that the wedding itself is not the important thing, it's what happens afterwards that counts.

Saskia reflected on a failed marriage ahead of her Peak Practice character's wedding

"While I would love to do it again, it won't be right now, or tomorrow or the next day. But no, I certainly don't rule it out. I'm all for it. I'm a big fan of marriage, even though I've not been massively successful at it myself."
