Queen Camilla stole the show last week as she headed to The Garrison Chapel alongside her husband, King Charles, to preview a new exhibition marking two decades of Turquoise Mountain, the heritage charity founded by the monarch. The exhibition is known as 'Craftsmanship and Community: 20 Years of Turquoise Mountain', and features traditional artisan work.
Braving the rain, Camilla, 78, looked so stylish in a new, Barbie pink-colored coat that was of the single-breasted variety and came with waist detail, which was fastened at the sides. She accessorised the eye-catching piece with a gorgeous silk scarf, a beautiful brooch, and carried a Dior bag. Teamed with a pair of black suede knee-high boots, the royal has never looked more stylish.
Her coat was quite the surprise. As a fashion editor who has been writing about royal style for over eight years, I've spotted that bright pink isn't a shade that Camilla wears very often.
She is often seen in more pastel tones, but this rare Barbie pink look complements her blonde hair magnificently, and pink is a shade that really does lift the complexion. It also hints at the 'Barbiecore' trend.
Barbiecore trend
Barbiecore is a vibrant trend that nods to the wardrobe of the legendary doll, Barbie. The term was coined in 2023, after the release of the movie of the same name, in which Margot Robbie starred.
It's a sugar-rush take on bright pinks associated with the doll's attire. While the movie hype has settled, Camilla proves that this vibrant hue remains a power colour for 2026.
Camilla, the queen of pastel dressing
When Camilla has a formal event, she often turns to high-end fashion designer Fiona Clare, who creates the most stunning bespoke pieces for the royal, often in pastel tones.
"Personally, I think colour, whatever age, should be chosen to suit one's shape, style and personality," Fiona exclusively told Best Quality Designer Handbag in 2019. "Pastel colours are stunning as long as the tone is right, champagne, dusty pink and powder blue are wonderful colours, and with some embroidery or a beautiful trim, on a perfectly cut coat or dress, you will have a classic piece you will love forever.”
Dressing royalty is a true pinnacle moment in any designer's career, and Fiona couldn't be happier with the pairing. "I feel very proud to be one of her team and absolutely love creating for her; it is a wonderful feeling to see her in a photograph looking amazing," she said.
