Fame and fortune have not altered what Susan Boyle holds dear to her heart. Even after being thrust into the global spotlight following her memorable 2009 performance on Britain's Got Talent, the singer stayed true to her roots and refused to leave her childhood town of Blackburn, West Lothian.

Since becoming a global superstar with a net worth of approximately £30 million, the 65-year-old has made several attempts to find her forever home, all of which ultimately left her craving her modest former lifestyle. Now, she has reportedly made the leap to move further afield as she prioritises her career.

Instead of splashing on a wealth of luxurious features, Susan has reportedly remained fiscally conservative, spending only £245,000 on a two-bedroom bungalow with a detached garage, which could be converted into a home studio.

She reportedly relocated near Falkirk in March to be closer to her manager, Geraldine Easton, as they plan her next steps.

Retirement plans

Susan previously shut down rumours she was planning to retire on an appearance on STV in 2025, admitting she has a "hunger to keep going."

She explained: "I'll see how I feel at the time, I'd like to keep going for as long as I can. My bucket list has overflowed," before clarifying she would like to work with Josh Groban.

Before performing a powerful rendition of 'I Dreamed a Dream' from the West End musical Les Misérables for Simon Cowell and his fellow BGT judges, Susan lived in a three-bedroom former council house, which she had purchased for £65,000.

One year after appearing on the show, she paid £300,000 for a new-build detached five-bedroom house on the other side of town, but struggled to feel at home in what she described as the 'Posh House'.

Instead of selling it, she allowed her niece to live there while she purchased the house next door to her former council house for £110,000 in 2014, combining the two properties to create her dream home.

Speaking about renovating the property to make it look "bigger and more homely", she told Edinburgh Evening News in 2019: "The house has been needing doing up for some time, I was beginning to lose things in it.

"I've had the kitchen done, the living room papered, the floors done and a summerhouse put out the back."
