Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell couldn't be happier to escape to their home in Snowmass Village, Colorado when the going gets tough down in Hollywood.
The longtime couple, who've been together since Valentine's Day 1983, divide their time between their California home and their Colorado mountain estate, where Kurt, 75, has lived since his 20s.
Up in the mountains
Speaking with Fox News, the star of the new Taylor Sheridan series The Madison compared dividing his time between LA and the mountains to his character Preston Clyburn's own on the show as well.
He also noted that he actually prefers being in Colorado over Hollywood, and Goldie, 80, does even more so. "What I enjoy most is that she really likes it in Colorado," he shared.
As it turns out, they have family right by their side there too. "Wyatt [Russell] and Meredith [Hagner] and their two boys, they live in Colorado now. So we like to spend as much time there as we can."
"A different kind of life"
He continued: "I'd like to be there more. And there's a different kind of life there. That's primarily it. I'd like to be able to spend as much time there as possible."
Kurt was previously married to Season Hubley from 1979 to 1983, welcoming son Boston Russell with her. Goldie was previously married to Gus Trikonis from 1969 to 1976, and then Bill Hudson from 1976 to 1982, welcoming Oliver and Kate Hudson with the latter.
The Madison, starring Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell
The Madison, which released the final three episodes of its first season on March 21, also stars Michelle Pfeiffer as Stacy Clyburn, Preston's wife and the family matriarch. It centers primarily around her emotional journey as she and her family relocate from New York City to the Madison Valley in Montana following a shocking family tragedy.
"Well, what's fun about that part of it is it's kind of me," Kurt continued. "This was fun because he's an urban man. He's a man of finance in New York City. Family's grown up there. They've been together forever. And what I liked about this was… so many different things."
He added: "It's been a long time since I've seen a really successful long-term relationship. It's been a long [time] since I've seen a tragedy that's relatable and a whole family that has to experience what it's like to be a fish out of water now and all the things that they find out about themselves."
"Taylor Sheridan wrote a really, really beautiful, beautiful screenplay here," Kurt noted, although reserved particular praise for his co-star Michelle. "I thought everything about it was good, but it was Michelle playing Stacy that, you know, I said, 'Wow, she's going to kill that,' and she has. Really fantastic."
