Andrew Keegan was a big star in the '90s but is perhaps best known for his role in the rom-com 10 Things I Hate About You opposite Heath Ledger and Julia Stiles.

The now 47-year-old starred as Joey Donner in the 1999 film, which grossed over $53 million worldwide and has become a cult classic.

Despite its icon status, Andrew revealed the surprising amount he still earns from the teen film while discussing the realities of residual checks from some of his hit '90s movies and TV shows, including The Broken Hearts Club, Full House, and 7th Heaven.

Andrew revealed during an appearance on The McBride Rewind podcast that he receives the largest residuals for 10 Things I Hate About You, but the checks from all his projects can range from $80 to as little as one cent.

"I think it's really funny because I'll get different shows obviously, but I'll get one cent checks and it costs like 40 cents to send," he said, adding: "One cent is not worth my time."

"I think 10 Things is the biggest residuals," he shared. "There are still residuals that come from all those shows, like $10, $20, $50, $80, right?"

Andrew isn't the only actor whose residual checks leave little to be desired, but some actors earn millions of dollars.

Pamela Anderson was part of a movement when she starred as C.J. Parker on Baywatch from 1992 to 1997, but according to her son, Brandon, she makes just $4,000 per year in residuals. "That's a crime," he told Extra.

Mandy Moore starred as Rebecca Pearson in six seasons of This Is Us, but her residual checks are "very tiny," ranging from a penny to 81 cents, despite the hit show's streaming deal with Hulu. "The residual issue is a huge issue," she told The Hollywood Reporter in 2023.

The Brady Bunch star Eve Plumb, who played Jan Brady on the hit sitcom from 1969 to 1974, revealed in her memoir, Happiness Included: Jan Brady and Beyond, that she earns nearly nothing in residuals from the show. "If I had a dime for every rerun episode, I'd pay off the national deficit," she wrote, adding: "I don't."

John Mahoney, who died in 2018, made "a ton of money" starring as Martin Crane on Frasier, he told the Chicago Tribune in 2004. While he didn't disclose the amount, it was apparently "enough" to ensure he didn't have to "worry" about his next job.

Lisa Kudrow, who played Phoebe Buffay from 1994 to 2004, revealed in May 2026 that she and the Friends cast each earn a whopping $20 million a year in residuals from the show. "Because Phoebe Buffay was so great?" she told The Times when asked why the checks were so high. Matthew's earnings, meanwhile, more than likely go to his estate following his death in 2023.
