The Prince and Princess of Wales have delighted royal fans by releasing a brand new photograph of Princess Charlotte to celebrate her 11th birthday on Saturday. The beautiful new portrait shows the young royal looking remarkably grown up as she posed outdoors in a field of daisies, shot in stunning Cornwall.
Flashing a radiant smile for the camera, the birthday girl looked effortlessly stylish, wearing a striped red and black knitted jumper over the top of a blue collared shirt and some dark blue jeans. Her brunette hair hung long down past her shoulders.
As has become a beloved tradition for the Wales family, the photograph was taken by Matt Porteous over Easter. An accompanying caption shared on the Prince and Princess of Wales's official social media accounts read: "Wishing Charlotte a very happy 11th birthday!"
Fans were quick to point out the striking family resemblances in the new image, with many noting how much the 11-year-old looks like her father, Prince William.
The young Princess is expected to celebrate her special day privately with her parents and her two brothers: 12-year-old Prince George and Prince Louis, who just turned eight last week.
A sweet birthday tradition
If her mother's previous comments are anything to go by, Charlotte is guaranteed a spectacular homemade birthday cake this weekend. The royal mother-of-three has previously spoken about her love for baking her children's cakes from scratch, revealing: "I love making the cake."
She added: "It's become a bit of a tradition that I stay up 'til midnight with ridiculous amounts of cake mix and icing and I make far too much. But I love it."
A busy period of celebrations
Charlotte's special day falls during a remarkably busy period of celebrations for the Wales family. Her birthday comes just days after Prince William and Kate celebrated their milestone 15th wedding anniversary on Wednesday, and hot on the heels of her younger brother Louis's birthday on 23 April.
Princess Charlotte was born at 08:34 am on 2 May 2015 at the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in Paddington, London. Her full name - Charlotte Elizabeth Diana - serves as a touching tribute to her grandfather, King Charles, her late great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and William's late mother, Diana, Princess of Wales.
