Harry's tribute
The Duke of Sussex has described Sir David Attenborough as an "institutional pillar as essential to the national fabric as a cup of tea", in a moving tribute to celebrate the world-renowned naturalist and broadcaster's 100th birthday.
The duke highlighted how Sir David has brought serious issues such as climate change and habitation loss to much greater attention, writing for TIME Magazine that
Sir David's "lack of any conceivable agenda measn that the alarm bells he sounds signify all the more urgency".
“When a man who has quite literally seen it all begins to describe the loss of the planet’s stability, he isn’t being provocative. He is reporting from the front lines of a planet he has known longer, and more intimately, than almost anyone alive," wrote the prince.
Good morning
Welcome back to our royal live blog! I'm taking over the helm this morning to bring you all the latest from the monarchy on what is a truly historic day for the nation.
Today marks Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday, and the tributes are pouring in for the legendary naturalist! Leading the global well-wishes is Prince Harry, who has shared a deeply personal and moving essay in Time magazine.
The Duke of Sussex didn't hold back in his praise, hailing Sir David as a "secular saint" and an "institutional pillar as essential to the national fabric as a cup of tea".
Man charged after encounter with Andrew
There has been a serious development on the Sandringham Estate this morning. A 39-year-old man, Alex Jenkinson, is set to appear at Westminster Magistrates' Court today following an incident involving Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor.
The former Duke of York was reportedly out walking his dogs near his new home at Marsh Farm in Wolferton on Wednesday evening when he was approached by a man in a balaclava.
According to reports, the individual jumped out of a car and began shouting abuse at Andrew, who was forced to make a quick exit with his protection officer.
Alex, 39, of Stowmarket, Suffolk, has been charged with two counts of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour to harass someone or cause alarm or distress, Norfolk Constabulary said on Thursday night. He has also been charged with failing to provide a specimen of blood in custody and is due to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court on Friday.
Trump and Harry
While King Charles and President Trump raised a glass to the "special relationship" during last month's historic state visit, one royal was notably missing from the guest list: Prince Harry.
The back-and-forth between the two has certainly kept royal watchers talking! From the President's vocal support for the "traditional" monarchy to Harry's candid reflections on his new life in America, it's clear they have very different perspectives on the royal role. Read our explainer here.
Birthday tributes from the King
The national celebrations for Sir David Attenborough's 100th birthday are in full swing, and the King and Queen have shared a beautiful message to the legendary naturalist.
"Wishing Sir David Attenborough a very happy 100th birthday," they wrote on social media, alongside a collection of nature emojis.
Behind the gates at Windsor
With the Royal Windsor Horse Show just around the corner (running from 14-17 May!), we've been treated to a rare behind-the-scenes look at what goes on in the royals' garden.
This isn't just any horse show - it was the late Queen's favourite event of the year, and it's held in the private grounds of Windsor Castle. Did you know dogs have been banned from the royal tent since 1944? Apparently, a lurcher once broke in and stole a chicken leg right from King George VI's plate!

Star-studded night out!
What a week it's been for Princess Eugenie! Just days after announcing she is expecting her third child, the Princess stepped out for a rare double date with sister Princess Beatrice - and the guest list was truly A-list.
The royal sisters were spotted at Marylebone's Hart pub last night for model Poppy Delevingne's 40th birthday bash. Eugenie looked radiant, showing off her growing baby bump in a chic black dress and a statement metallic blue coat. She was joined by husband Jack Brooksbank, who is celebrating his own 40th birthday last weekend!

We reveal the "gentle teasing" that happened between King Charles and the President, plus the story behind those chaotic WhatsApp messages sent from 35,000 feet as the royal press pack crossed the Atlantic. Find out why this trip is being hailed as the ultimate "reset" for the King's reign.
Queen Camilla's special moment
Queen Camilla has made a very special appearance on day two of the Badminton Horse Trials.
Looking perfectly at home in the countryside, the Queen spent her morning meeting with members of the Ebony Horse Club, a charity based in Brixton that uses horse riding to transform the lives of young people. As their dedicated President, Her Majesty was clearly delighted to be there, chatting warmly with the group about their experiences on the Badminton Estate.
Lady Louise's surprising part-time job
She might be the granddaughter of the late Queen, but Lady Louise Windsor is proving she’s not afraid of a hard day's work! As she nears the end of her final year at St Andrews University, we can exclusively reveal that Louise is heading back to a very familiar "office" next week.
The 22-year-old is set to take up her annual part-time job at the Royal Windsor Horse Show, working behind the scenes in the event's administration office.Louise is famously "grounded and down-to-earth," with sources telling us she's been known to get stuck into everything from answering phones to sealing envelopes.
It's a work ethic clearly inherited from her parents, Prince Edward and Duchess Sophie, who previously supported her in a summer job at a local garden centre where she earned just over £6 an hour! To read more about Louise's part-time job, click on our story.
Will Princess Kate channel Princess Diana in Italy?
Get ready for a major fashion moment! With the Princess of Wales set to travel to Italy next week for her first official overseas trip since 2024, royal style watchers are already predicting a stunning "tour-drobe."
All eyes are on whether Kate will take a leaf out of Princess Diana's book. Back in 1985, Diana’s 17-day tour of Italy was a masterclass in 80s glamour—most notably her iconic Jacques Azagury "tutu dress," which featured a starry bodice and a royal blue ballet-length skirt. It recently sold at auction for over $1 million!

The Villa victory
He's officially Aston Villa's #1 fan! Following Villa's stunning 4-0 victory over Nottingham Forest last night, Prince William was so thrilled that he didn't just cheer from the stands - he headed straight for the dressing room!
Manager Unai Emery revealed that the Prince of Wales joined the squad to celebrate their historic passage to the Europa League final. "He was in the dressing room with the players and with me, and of course, he is so happy," Emery shared.
William was spotted in the stands at Villa Park looking every bit the passionate fan as John McGinn and Ollie Watkins helped secure the win.
Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor latest
We have an update from Westminster Magistrates' Court, where Alex Jenkinson has formally entered a plea following Wednesday's security scare. Jenkinson pleaded not guilty to using threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behaviour with the intent to cause fear or provoke violence.
The charges stem from an incident in Wolferton shortly after 7:30 pm on 6 May, when Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor was out walking his dogs near his new Marsh Farm home.
Jenkinson, who gave his address as Debenham in Suffolk, pleaded guilty to failing to provide a specimen of blood while in custody on the same day.
He pleaded not guilty to a further charge of using threatening, abusive or insulting words or behaviour with intent to cause fear or provoke unlawful violence against a man, Stephen Terry, in King's Lynn, on 5 May.
Familiar faces
It was also a day for familiar faces, as the Queen was spotted warmly greeting her ex-husband, Andrew Parker Bowles, during the Badminton Horse Trials in Gloucestershire at the event. The pair have remained close friends over the years, and Andrew is a regular fixture at major equestrian events.
Speaking with broadcaster Clare Balding at the event, Camilla said she "was so moved" when she first discovered the club "quite a few years ago". Camilla presented the quartet and their ponies with rosettes.
The Queen also spoke with six-time winner of the Badminton event Lucinda Green, and greeted Mr Parker Bowles during a reception. The couple married in 1973 and had two children, Tom and Laura, before divorcing in 1995.

Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor makes security plea
Following a confrontation near his new residence, Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor is reportedly demanding the reinstatement of his official security detail.
The incident occurred on Wednesday during a dog walk on the Sandringham Estate, where a man wearing a balaclava approached the disgraced royal before being arrested.
According to The Telegraph, the encounter has left the royal deeply unsettled, prompting his renewed request for taxpayer-funded protection.
Although Andrew was accompanied by his own private bodyguards during the altercation, he is reportedly pushing for a return to official state security.
The royal was stripped of his publicly funded protection in 2022, three years after he stepped down from his duties as a working member of the royal family.
Royal highlight of the week
We've had royal birthdays aplenty this week: Princess Charlotte turned 10, and Prince Archie turned seven. But our favourite moment from the royal agenda has to be the adorable pup who stole the show at King Charles' Garden Party on Tuesday.
We particularly loved this special moment when Princess Anne broke her composure to fuss over the adorable pooch.
During the event, a two-year-old cocker spaniel named Vegas was introduced to King Charles by her owner, Kate Wilson, 52, from West Sussex.
Vegas then met Princess Anne, who was delighted by the dog's enthusiastic greeting. Bending down to hold the spaniel's front paws, Anne smiled and asked: "Is it everyone or is it just me?"
When Wilson explained that Vegas is her first hearing service dog, Princess Anne kindly asked:
"And does she help you? That's all working well?" How lovely to see the Princess Royal in her element!
Garden Party arrivals
The Prince and Princess of Wales arrive to greet guests attending a Royal Garden Party at Buckingham Palace, London, to celebrate frontline workers from across the United Kingdom and recognise the dedication and contribution of those who serve their communities through volunteering, supporting charitable causes and working for emergency services.
Prince William and Princess Kate take centre stage
The Prince and Princess of Wales looked incredible as they filled in for King Charles and Queen Camilla at the second garden party of the season.
This is the second time that the royal couple has led the festivities at Buckingham Palace, with the pair hosting a garden party in 2025.
Princess Kate channelled Audrey Hepburn in a structured blazer and elegant polka dot skirt, complete with a stylish hat, while Prince William looked dapper in a three-piece suit.
Style queen Kate
Exhibiting her signature style, the Princess of Wales opted for a chic white blazer dress from one of her go-to labels, Self-Portrait, for the Buckingham Palace garden party.
The sophisticated, double-breasted piece featured a subtle peplum silhouette, three-quarter-length sleeves, and a striking, Carrie Bradshaw-inspired floral corsage. The tailored bodice flowed seamlessly into a soft, lightly pleated midi skirt.
To complete the look, Kate paid a subtle tribute to the past by accessorizing with a pair of earrings that previously belonged to the late Queen Elizabeth II.
We think she looked absolutely stunning - very Audrey Hepburn!
Fangirling over Prince William
Prince William proved popular with guests at the garden party. How sweet is this photo of one particularly thrilled guest shaking hands with the royal?
Zara Tindall is beautiful in blue
You can always count on Zara Tindall to make a big impression with her fashion choices, and Friday was no different.
Zara, 44, looked striking in an electric blue midi dress with a belt accentuating the waist and cut-out flowers on the skirt, which she accessorised with matching heels and a fascinator.
She wore her blonde hair in a chic updo, with the front section curled and framing her face.
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh make appearance
The Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh also supported the Prince and Princess of Wales at the special garden party.
Sophie was a vision in a frosty blue dress with a cinched waistline and bow detailing on the shoulder. The star of the show was her incredible hat, which certainly stole the show.
It appears to be the same elegant frock Sophie previously wore around two years prior to a 2024 garden party at the Palace of Holyroodhouse in Scotland.
Sophie paired the dress with matching coloured heels and kept her mixed-metal jewellery minimal for the occasion with a dainty silver necklace and gold bangle.

Colliding worlds
Good morning, afternoon, or evening, wherever you are following along from!
It's been a busy week for the royals around the world, but I am obsessed with the pictures from Thursday of Taylor Swift, the princess of pop, attending the same birthday bash as British princesses, Beatrice and Eugenie.
Poppy Delevingne celebrated her 40th birthday party at Lover's Lane, and Taylor has been friends with the birthday girl's younger sister, model Cara Delevingne, for over a decade.
Alexa Chung, Georgia May Jagger, Isla Fisher, and Lily James were all also in attendance.
