Donatella Versace has plenty of accolades to her name after spending 27 years as the creative director of the luxury Italian fashion house before stepping down in March 2025.
The 71-year-old spent years juggling her work with being a mom of two. She and her ex-husband, Paul Beck, who married in 1983 and divorced in 2000, share a daughter, Allegra, and a son, Daniel.
"My family is the most important. I'm Italian, so you know that. I think it was harder when my children were little. But I try to spend as much quality time as I can with my family," she told Interview Magazine in January 2012.
While Donatella, now Versace's chief brand ambassador, is often in the spotlight, her children are the complete opposite and shun the celebrity lifestyle. Find out more about Allegra and Daniel below.
Allegra Versace Beck was born on June 30, 1986. She made headlines when she was just 11 years old after inheriting a 50 percent stake in Versace, a villa on Lake Como, and a New York townhouse, after her uncle Gianni Versace was murdered in July 1997.
In 2018, Donatella called Allegra's inheritance a "burden," telling SSENSE: "Gianni idolized my daughter and always called her 'my little princess,' but he put a tremendous burden on her with his will. Making headlines at the age of 11 — I wouldn't wish that on any child," she said.
Allegra gained control of her 50 percent stake aged 18, but according to Grazia Magazine, she didn't take control of her shares or take her place on the board of directors until she was 24.
Despite her Versace ties, Allegra revealed in 2011 that she preferred to keep out of the spotlight and opted to work for a different fashion designer.
"I've spent some time working with a non-Italian designer, I've been helping him organize fashion shows, the advertising, also helping with the creative part," she told La Repubblica in 2011.
"But the great part about this work is that I am no one," she continued. "They pay me, also, of course, for now not enough to live without worries, but I think you can get used to everything, if you feel free, if you are yourself and not what others want you to be, if you don't see a photographer around every corner, if you do not bury yourself in cruel gossip that does so much harm."
Allegra had a change of heart in 2018 when she took on a role at Versace's subsidiary brand Versus, which was later merged with Versace Jeans to form Versace Jeans Couture, but was discontinued in March 2026 after the Italian fashion house was acquired by the Prada Group.
"She is highly intelligent and a very keen observer. Everyone pays rapt attention whenever she takes the floor at a board meeting — not because she owns half of the company, but because she asks the right questions," Donatella told SSENSE.
While Allegra has been pictured at red carpet events over the years alongside her mother, she prefers a reclusive life and is rarely seen in public. "Unlike my mother, I hate celebrity," she told La Repubblica.
Speaking to Harper's Bazaar in 2007, she said: "Hollywood is not really my world. I don't tell many people my last name. I go by Beck more than Versace."
Despite her aversion to the limelight, Allegra attended UCLA and Brown University, studying acting, French, and art history.
"I studied theatre and it pleased me greatly to play parts in little independent films that no one went to see," she told La Repubblica. "Still, anywhere I went, I was Versace. I couldn't escape, and it did me harm."
In 2007, her parents confirmed that Allegra was battling an eating disorder. "Our daughter Allegra has been battling anorexia, a very serious disease, for many years. She is receiving the best medical care possible to help overcome this illness and is responding well."
Allegra has never discussed her eating disorder publicly.
Little is known about Daniel, born in 1989, who, like his sister, prefers to live his life out of the spotlight.
Donatella has shared snippets about her son's life over the years, revealing that he lives in London and is a musician who had some very impressive music teachers as a child.
"He plays all the instruments himself when he records an album, and he's an excellent player," she told SSENSE in 2018. "He also had good teachers. Elton John gave him piano lessons when he was little, and my friend Axl Rose was one of his guitar teachers later on."

Despite his privileged upbringing, Daniel was so adamant about not wanting "anything to do with the Versace name" that he adopted a new moniker to maintain his privacy.
"He believes the name Versace would damage his integrity as a musician and give him an undeserved advantage," she explained to the outlet. "I don't really understand that reasoning, because you're either a good musician or a bad one. But it's his life. He makes the decisions, and it seems they're the right ones."
Gushing about her son's talents, Donatella added: "You should see him at his performances. It's rare to see a person whose music makes him so happy."
